dealership for any reason. This bulletin will expire at the end of the involved vehicle’s New Vehicle Limited
Warranty period.

Description
Vented Seat

Involved vehicles are marked “open” on the Investigate Vehicle History screen in GM Global Warranty Management
system. This site should always be checked to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections
and/or repairs.
Condition

Correction

If the seat is lowered to the lowest position, certain wiring harness routing may allow the seat harness
to be pinched between the seat recliner gear mechanism and the rear height adjuster link. Individual
circuits in the seat harness, including the side air bag deployment loop, ventilation function and lumbar
support may be damaged.
Check the front seat harness routing and wrap the excess harness with a tie strap. If there is any evidence
of wiring harness damage, replace the seat harness.

Service Procedure
1.

Adjust the driver and passenger front seats in the furthest forward and upward positions.

Inspect driver and passenger front seats to see if the front seat wiring harness has been damaged from making
contact with the seat recliner gear mechanism. Seat is removed from vehicle for illustrative purposes only.


If the front seat wiring harness is NOT damaged, proceed to step 3.

If the front seat wiring harness is damaged, replace the front seat wiring harness. Refer to Front Seat Wiring
Harness Replacement in SI and proceed to step 6.

Measure 40mm (1.58 in) from the offset clip (1) toward the seat back harness and install a zip tie (2) around the
harness and cushion spring.

Ensure the zip tie head is facing upward toward the seat cushion and NOT facing down.

5.

Cut the excess off of the zip tie.

6.

Return the driver and passenger front seats to their original positions.

Dealer Responsibility
Whenever a vehicle subject to this service update enters your vehicle inventory, or is in your facility for service in the
future, and the vehicle is still covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you must take the steps necessary to be
sure the service update correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.
All new, used, GM Certified Used, courtesy transportation vehicles, dealer shuttle vehicles, etc. in dealers' possession
and subject to this bulletin must be held and inspected/repaired per the service procedure of this bulletin before customers
take possession of these vehicles. Involved vehicles must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer-traded,
released to auction, used for demonstration, or any other purpose.
All GM Certified Used vehicles currently in the dealers’ inventory within the Certified Pre-Owned Inventory System
(CPOIS) will be de-certified and must be held and remedied per the service procedure in this bulletin. Upon submitting
an accepted/paid warranty transaction in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system, the vehicle can be re-certified
for sale within the CPOIS system, or once again be used in the CTP program.

November 3, 2016. A list of involved vehicles in dealer new inventory is attached to this
message. Please hold all warranty transactions until the VIN appears in IVH.
