1.0 – Introduction
This document describes the complete installation and configuration processes of ODIS Service
Installation Version 2.2.2 from a 2-DVD set on eligible VAS diagnostic devices.
The installation options covered here are: New installations and Reinstallations.
Separate instructions for each installation option are covered throughout this document. Refer to
Subsections 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 below for details on how to use these instructions.

1.1 – Installation Version Management
ODIS Service Installation Version 2.2.2 DVDs are intended specifically for New Installations on new
devices or Reinstallations on existing devices to resolve malfunctioning software.

ATTENTION!
V2.2.2 DVDs are NOT update DVDs! Please do not use them to
update existing ODIS Service installations that are already up-todate and functioning normally.
1.2 – New Installations
New Installations are defined as installations on new VAS diagnostic devices where ODIS Service was
not previously installed on Windows® 7.
ALL ODIS Service Installation Phases (1, 2 and 3) must be completed, in phase order, on all devices prior
to using ODIS Service. All phase documents are posted on ServiceNet.

Look for the New Installations subsection titles and references throughout this document.
1.3 – Reinstallations
Reinstallations are defined as installations on existing VAS diagnostic devices where ODIS Service was
previously installed on Windows 7, and the exiting license file is available for reinstallation.
Uninstallation of the existing software is always required prior to reinstallation.
Reinstallations may be necessary to resolve malfunctioning software.

Service Information
2.2 – Hardware and Network Prerequisites – All Installations







ODIS Service Installation Version 2.2.2 (2-DVD set) - Order No. 010.5002.02.21 on hand.
Diagnostic device with functioning CD/DVD drive and USB.
Diagnostic device plugged in to A/C power adapter and booted to Windows desktop.
VAS Diagnostic Tablets: Device mounted in base station with mouse and keyboard connected.
Confirm that a Windows 7 update IS NOT in the process of being downloaded or installed.
Go to: Control Panel > Windows Update to confirm!

2.3 – Reinstallations – Uninstall ODIS Service
ODIS Service must always be uninstalled prior to reinstallations. Use the procedure specified below.
Pre-uninstallation Tips:
• If you are unaware of, or have not recorded the Email Outbox Server configuration settings,
please note them now! Go to: ODIS Service > Admin > Support > E-mail outbox server …and
record the various settings to re-apply during post-setup configuration.
• If the license file was not saved in a folder on the Windows desktop, or if the USB flash drive
containing the backup license file is not available, copy the installed license to the Windows
desktop prior to uninstallation as follows:
1. From the Windows desktop, go to: Windows (Start) > Computer > Local Disc (C:) > Program
Files (x86) > Offboard_Diagnostic_Information_System_Service > license
2. Right click the license (.dat) file.
3. Select Copy, and then close all windows.
4. Paste the license on the Windows desktop (for retrieval during the installation routine) and revisit
the Phase 1 instructions, Section 3.5 for a suggested method to save the license file in a
desktop folder.
Uninstall ODIS Service:
1. Go to: Windows (Start) > All Programs > (ODIS Service) > ODIS Service Uninstallation Program
or uninstall ODIS Service using the applicable Windows “Add or Remove Programs” utility.
2. When prompted, check the boxes to remove all licenses, MCD projects, diagnostic logs etc. Scroll
down in the prompt window and check all boxes as necessary.
3. Restart the diagnostic device when prompted.

3.0 – Installation
3.1 – Process Overview
 The application and brand diagnostic database data are downloaded from the 2 installation DVDs
 The application is then installed from the download directory.
 The diagnostic database is then installed from the download directory as per the individual brand or
multiple brands associated with the ODIS Service license file.

3.2 – Application Software & License Installation
1. Insert ODIS Service Version 2.2.2 -Disc 1- into the DVD-ROM drive.
2. Wait while the drive contents are read and the DVD AutoPlays.
3. Select Run MULTI_DVD_windows_1_0_0.exe:

The CD/DVD drive automatically ejects Disc 1 when its data is loaded.

7. Remove Disc 1 from CD/DVD drive.
8. Insert -Disc 2- and select OK:

9. Wait while the data from -Disk 2- is downloaded.
10. Click OK:

11. Remove Disc 2 from the CD/DVD drive.
12. No action needed:

13. Wait until Language selection prompt appears as illustrated below. A 10 - 20 second delay is normal.
Confirm English (US) is highlighted, and then click OK:
