The purpose of this service bulletin is to provide REV dealers the instructions
for modifying the base of the articulating bed to allow the hinges for the bed to
be fastened into the tube aluminum in the wall, and to add support pieces to
the head end of the bed base.

CONDITION:
On certain units equipped with an articulating bed installed in the full wall
slideout, the hinges fastening the bed base to the slideout wall may not have
been fastened into the tube aluminum blocking installed in the wall. This may
allow the bed to detach as a result of slide room operation.

CORRECTION:
Follow the steps below to install new aluminum support plates on the wall for
the hinges and add two new pine support pieces under the bed box near the
head of the bed.
Read this entire bulletin before beginning any work.
1. Park the motorhome on dry, level pavement with adequate clearance to
extend the full wall slide-out room. Place the transmission in Neutral and
set the parking brake. Chock the wheels to prevent movement.
2. Level the unit using the leveling touchpad.
3. With the engine running, extend the full wall slideout room.
4. Turn off the ignition and remove the ignition key. Maintain control of keys
until all work is performed.
5. Remove the bed coverings and
pillows. Store in the closet while
repairs are performed.
6. Carefully carry the mattress out to the
living room area, and set it aside until
repairs are complete.
7. Cut two (2) new, 18” long support
pieces from “2x4” pine dimensional
lumber. Spray the short ends and one

of the 4 x 18” sides of each piece with
black spray paint. Set aside to dry.
8. Open the bed top at the foot end and
pop off the clips from the top of the
strut to disconnect it from the bed top.
See Figure 1.
9. Remove the screws fastening the
hinged plywood bed top to the bed
base. Fold the top back at the hinge
until repairs are complete. See
Figure 2

10. Locate and remove the screws fastening
the hinges to the wall and pull the bed
base away from the wall. Do not remove
the hinges from the headboard of the bed
base.

Note: There should be a total of 4 hinges
fastened to the bed base. If any hinges are
missing, contact Dealer Technical Support.
11. Referring to Figure 3, remove the screws
fastening the angle bracket to the bed
bottom on one side of the interior of the bed
frame. (Do not move the angle bracket.)
Drill through the existing holes in the angle
bracket and through the tubing in the bed
base.

12. Slide one of the new pine support pieces
under the bed to align with the angle and
orient it so that the 3 ½” end is vertical and
the painted side faces outward. Use new
#8 x 3” screws (see Pars list) run through
the angle bracket, bed bottom, and into the
new support piece. Repeat for the other
side.
Note: The new pine pieces will support the
weight of the head end of the bed base.
13. Slide the bed back against the wall and use
painter’s tape to mark the locations of the
hinges on the wall. See Figure 4.
14. Pull the bed base back away from the wall.
Locate the (4) new aluminum plates (see
Parts list). The aluminum plates should
match up with the tape outline on the wall.
Orient the new aluminum plates as shown
in Figure 5. Fasten the new plates onto the
wall using four (4) #8-18 x 3/4” Phillips flat
head screws (see Parts list) for each plate.

Remove the painter’s tape from the wall.

16. Clean up any debris near the wall.
17. Move the bed box back against the wall.
Ensure it is flush with the wall and the hinges
on the bed base are lined up with the new
aluminum reinforcement plates installed in
Step 14. Use new #8-18 x 3/4” Phillips flat
head screws (see Parts list) to fasten each
hinge to the new aluminum plate.

18. Ensure the foot of the bed is properly aligned
with the rollers. Adjust the position of the rollers
as needed by loosening the bolts in the slotted
roller bracket. Retighten the bolts after making
any adjustments. See Figure 6.
19. Move the hinged bed top back into position,
ensuring there is 1/4” gap between the edge of
the bed top and the wall. Use original screws
to fasten the head portion of the top into the
brackets in the bed base.
20. Reconnect the struts to the underside of the
bed top.

21. Reposition the mattress back on the bed top. Place bed coverings and pillows back on the
bed. Vacuum up any debris on the bedroom floor.
22. Start the engine. Retract and extend the slideout room several times to ensure the bed
glides properly on the rollers and there is no binding of the carpet under the bed. Adjust as
necessary.
