SUBJECT: Notice for Thermo King Power Inverter Recall
This letter is to inform you that DTNA has mailed notices for a recall being conducted by Thermo King
affecting certain power inverters installed on DTNA vehicles. The notices were mailed 11/12/14.

There is no action for DTNA dealers to take. This is for your information should the dealership
receive any questions from customers. DTNA’s cover letters and Thermo King’s notices are on the
following pages for reference.

Subject: Thermo King Power Inverters
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety
Act.
Daimler Trucks North America LLC has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on
specific Freightliner Cascadia model vehicles manufactured May 5, 2014, through August 18, 2014, with certain
Thermo King auxiliary power units.
On certain vehicles outfitted with 1100W, 1500W, and 2000W Thermo King inverters, the inverter could fail. This
would be apparent through a "popping" noise and/or an odor emanating from the unit, and could result in an
electrical short, smoke, and/or fire, which could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.
Thermo King will replace the inverter or refund the full purchase price based on the availability of replacement
inverters.
The Recall will take approximately half an hour and will be performed at no charge to you. See the enclosed
Thermo King Recall Notice for details.
If you have leased this vehicle to another person, federal regulations require you to send a copy of this notice to
the lessee by first class mail within 10 days of your receipt of this notice.

Dear Owner of Thermo King 1100W, 1500W and 2000W Inverters sold between May
15, 2014 and July 31, 2014 as an option with TriPac EVOLUTION and TriPac E:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle
Safety Act.
Thermo King Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety
exists in its Thermo King 1100W, 1500W and 2000W Inverters sold between May 15,
2014 and July 31, 2014 as an option with TriPac EVOLUTION and TriPac E. The
inverters may spark or overheat, resulting in a potential fire.
Immediately turn off and discontinue use of the currently installed Thermo King inverter.
Based upon the availability of alternative replacement inverters from Thermo King, your
authorized Thermo King Dealer will provide you with the option of having a new
replacement inverter installed in your vehicle, or you will be provided with a refund for the
full purchase price of the original Thermo King inverter. The replacement of the inverter
will be performed at no cost to you and will take approximately 0.5 hours. Please contact
your authorized Thermo King Dealer on or after October 13, 2014 to schedule an
appointment to address this inverter issue.
Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must forward a
copy of the notice to the vehicle lessee within ten days.

Cet avis vous a été envoyé conformément à la Loi sur la sécurité automobile du Canada.
Daimler Trucks North America LLC a déterminé qu’une défectuosité reliée à la sécurité du moteur existe sur les
modèles de véhicules Freightliner Cascadia spécifiques construits entre le 5 mai 2014 et le 18 août 2014, à
Saltillo, Mexique, équipés de certaines alimentations électriques auxiliaires Thermo King.
Il peut arriver que l'onduleur Thermo King 1100 W, 1500 W ou 2000 W équipant certains véhicules fasse
défaillance. Ceci se manifesterait par un « bruit sec », accompagné d'une odeur émanant de l'appareil, et
pourrait entraîner un court-circuit, de la fumée et (ou) des flammes, ce qui pourrait augmenter le risque de
blessures ou de dégâts matériels.
Thermo King remplacera l'onduleur ou remboursera son prix d'achat total, selon la disponibilité d'onduleurs de
rechange.
