General Information
NOTE: This bulletin applies to Coronado vehicles built since January 2010.
The air-cleaner cover must be properly sealed to prevent dust and dirt from entering the engine and related
components. Some air-cleaner covers and fasteners have been damaged by over-torquing the fasteners, which
compromised the seal and allowed dust to bypass the air cleaner element.
At the next filter service, complete the following procedure to inspect the condition of the threaded inserts that
retain the air cleaner cover to ensure an adequate seal between the engine air filter, housing, and cover. If
needed, replace the air-cleaner assembly.

NOTICE
Use hand tools when removing or installing the fasteners for the air-cleaner cover; do not use power
tools. Power tools can damage the fasteners and/or air-cleaner housing, resulting in an inadequate seal
that allows dirt and dust to enter the system and cause internal engine damage.

Procedure
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the tires.
2. Open the hood.
3. Check the inserts at all four fastener locations; see Fig. 1. Each insert should protrude from the housing as
shown in Fig. 2.
If the head/flange of one or more of the threaded inserts is flush with or countersunk into the housing (see
Fig. 3), replace the air cleaner assembly. See Section 09.01, Subject 100 in the Coronado Workshop
Manual for replacement instructions.
