BRAKE PEDAL INSPECTION & ADJUSTMENT

DESCRIPTION
On the vehicles affected by this bulletin, it is necessary to ensure proper brake pedal installation and
adjustment following the procedure below.

PROCEDURE

DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition
switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter
type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position.

1)

Remove the four brake pedal retaining bolts.

2)

Apply blue Loctite 243 (# 680072 or similar medium strength threadlocker) to the four pedal
retaining bolts.

3)

Reinstall the four bolts by hand (do not tighten). Make sure the brake pedal assembly is still loose
and able to slightly “slide” back and forth.

4)

Push the brake pedal assembly all the way toward the front of the vehicle.

5)

Maintain slight pressure toward the front and torque each of the four retaining bolts to 6-8 lb-ft.

6)

Apply torque seal lacquer (# 685353 or equivalent) to the bolts after final torque is achieved.

1. Loosen threaded rod lock nut and turn the threaded rod CW or CCW in order to obtain a 45 brake
pedal inclination. Use Prevost Tool # G34835 to ensure proper pedal angle as shown in Fig.2 above.

2. Tighten threaded rod lock nuts to 37-55 lb-ft (Fig.2).
