Wiring Harness and Connector Repairs, General Information
Note:
Observe general note for repairs of vehicle electrical system; see Repair Group 97 in Elsa.
DO NOT solder repairs on vehicle electrical system.
DO NOT repair crimp connectors.
After crimping a repair connection, the crimp connection must be heat shrunk using a hot air gun to prevent
moisture penetration.
WARNING:
The steps above must be completed to ensure safety during repair.
Procedure
• Switch Ignition OFF.
• Disconnect battery ground (GND) cable, see Repair Manual Group 27 in Elsa.

• Locate the T14 connector in front of the air box, behind the left front headlight. Wiring repair to be performed
on the engine harness side (male pin side) (figure 1).

• Remove the air box to gain access to make the wiring repair (figure 2).

• Locate pins 12, 13 and 14 within the T14 connector.
• Using the VAS 1978 Wiring Harness Repair Kit, remove and replace pins 12, 13 and 14, 23cm (9 in.) behind
the wiring harness end connector.
Tip:
Reference SSP 871003 or VAS 1978 Wiring Kit Instruction Booklet for information on how to properly make wiring
repairs per Volkswagen
specification.
