Technical Bulletin (Air Conditioning Blows Warm, Compressor-Condenser Refrigerant Line): The air conditioning refrigerant line may come in contact with compressor pulley due to engine vibration. The production soluion for this issue was a New refrigerant pipe, upper coolant hose and double clip. This document informs on how to install the new parts. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.

Air Conditioning Blows Warm, Compressor-Condenser Refrigerant Line
Technical Background
The air conditioning refrigerant line may come in contact with compressor pulley due to engine vibration.
In the air conditioning control unit the following entry is logged:
• B10ABF0 - refrigerant pressure - under lower limit
Note
Inspect refrigerant line between condenser and compressor. If line is not damaged or out of its retainer
this technical bulletin does not apply. Further diagnosis is required.

Service
Repair Procedure
• Evacuate the AC system. See repair group 87 Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning in Elsa.
• Disconnect the compressor/condenser AC line from the condenser.
• Disconnect the compressor condenser AC line from the compressor and remove it from the vehicle.
• Support and lift the vehicle to remove noise dampener plate.
• Remove the radiator hose from the thermostat housing
to drain the coolant (Figure 1).
Note
Disconnect only the clamp off the existing coolant
temperature sensor housing. The housing pipe
attached to the engine can stay connected.

• Locate the after run coolant pump and turn the clamp
½ a turn from its original location away from the
compressor/condenser line.
Note
The picture shown in Figure 2 shows the AC line
installed to capture the potential contact area.

• Lower the vehicle and remove the radiator hose (and
the original double retainer if equipped) from the
radiator and remove it from the vehicle (Figure 4).

• Remove the original plastic radiator hose retainer from
the radiator and discard it. (Figure 5).

• Install the upper portion of new coolant hose 5N0 121
051M to the radiator and press the barbed end of the
new retainer clip into the hole in place of the old
retainer (Figure 6).

• Install new refrigerant line 5N0820721H according to
the repair manual.
• Secure the compressor bolt to 22Nm and condenser
bolt to 12Nm (Figure 7).

• Raise vehicle and attach the thermostat end of the
coolant hose and secure the clamp. Refill the engine
coolant (Figure 9).

• Recharge AC system according the specification label on the front core support. See repair group 87 Heating,
Ventilation, and Air Conditioning in Elsa.
• Check the ribbed serpentine belt for damage. If necessary replace the ribbed serpentine belt according to the
repair manual.
