PURPOSE: Reduction of the Door Panel Blister

The front door panels may exhibit a small blister in the material.
A special procedure has been developed to remedy this concern.
The following parts and tools will be required to complete this procedure:
- Harness Clip Fastener Screws P/N C140330308100 – total quantity 6 (3 LH and 3 RH)
- Door Panel Clips P/N C148001800100 (TERMAX 71205) - total quantity 18 (9 per panel)
- Heat gun (capable of minimum of 400°F) as shown below for example.
- Infrared Thermometer
- Dual ball wooden roller (source locally - Karma Automotive will supply to current retailers)
- Leather cleaner (Recommended Meguiar’s Gold Class Rich Leather) and a microfiber cloth
- Camera or suitable device for images
Please attach a clear image of the before repair and after repair
to a TSS case.

The door panel blister will be visible above the pocket.
As shown in the image (fig.1).

Remove the affected interior door trim panel.
Release clips (x2) and remove door cover finisher as
shown (fig.2).

inner door (fig.3).

Using a suitable tool carefully release the clips (9)
securing the door cover (fig.4). Three locations
shown for example. These nine clips will be replaced
with new ones.

After door panel is removed, place it on a clean
surface for the procedure, ensure this is protected
with a suitable material to not damage the door panel
surfaces.
On the reverse side of the panel remove the three (3)
screws as indicated (fig. 5).
These will be replaced with C140330308100 when
the procedure is complete.

As mentioned in the tools required list, the heat gun
should be set to 400°F (fig.6), this is the heat gun set
temperature.

Flip the door panel. Set the Heat gun temperature and place at distance 2.5 and 3 inches of the blister,
not any closer to avoid burning the leather. Move the heat gun around back and forth, this will soften
the plastic under side.
Heat area of blister for around 30 seconds to 1 minute before applying roller, this is to soften the surface in advance of applying pressure. Do not start rolling at same time of heating (fig. 7a and 7b).
Use the wooden ball roller to apply pressure to the surface of the blister (remove heat gun whilst you
use roller). Check area to see if blister is removed. If not add heat again for 30 seconds and repeat.
Repeat until the area is flat and no visible blister this may take several passes and overall time may be
7-15 minutes. A surface temperature on the leather should not exceed 300 °F so as not to discolor the
leather, use the infrared thermometer to take temperature readings on the surface under the heat gun.

After the heating and rolling procedure is complete,
install the new screws C140330308100 install
torque 1.0NM +/- 0.2NM (fig.8).
Replace all clips for the door panel as required
using C148001800100.

After completion of assembly, and no blister is
seen. Clean the affected area with leather cleaner
and a microfiber cloth (fig.9).
Apply Meguira’s Leather conditioner to a microfiber
cloth and gently clean the whole area. Ensure to
wipe well and not leave a shine.

If attempts to complete the procedure and repair the blister
prove unsuccessful replace the door panel as needed.
