We have issued Version 2 of this Service Policy Letter because we have changed the Labour Times to include an
allowance for the removal and installation of auxiliary equipment. Changes to this document have a black line against
them in the left margin. Please destroy all copies of SPL-03-0584 that you have and replace them with this Service Policy
Letter SPL-03-0584V2.
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to tell you that there is now a remanufactured replacement long-block V8 engine available. This engine
can only be used as a replacement for the 4.7 litre engine that is installed in V8 Vantage and V8 Vantage S from 09MY
onwards.
The new product is a completely reconditioned unit that has been fully tested and will give a performance and working
life comparable to that of a new engine.
The remanufactured assembly will be available for all 4.7 litre V8 Vantages that are older than 3 months in service, or
have completed 3000 miles (4800 kms) or greater.

Preparation of the removed engine
Figure 1 and Figure 2 show an engine in the correct condition to return to be reconditioned. Make sure that all
components that follow are removed:
Note:
Do not remove the spark plugs. They will give protection against contamination during transport.
Always install new spark plugs in the remanufactured engine.

• Water pump assembly and thermostat
• Inlet manifold assembly
• Secondary air pump and related pipes
• Power steering pump assembly
• Wiring harness
• Ignition coils
• Accessory drive belt and tensioners
• Lifting eyes
• All brackets, hoses and pipes.
You will need to install all of these components onto the replacement long-block engine before and during installation.
Install all of the plastic sealing plugs that you remove from the remanufactured engine into the old engine for return.
We have added a time allowance for this additional work. Refer to the list of Labour Times given below.
