RADIATOR RESERVOIR TANK HOSE REPLACEMENT
SUBJECT VEHICLES: Certain 13MY-16MY Conventional Trucks (238, 258, 268, or 338) built
between 8/1/2012 and 7/2/2015
Note: This service bulletin is provided as technical information and is not authorization for a
warrantable repair.
OVERVIEW:
The subject vehicle experiences coolant leakage from the radiator reserve tank recovery
hose due to wear of the hose on the eyelet of the reserve tank. A protective cover has
been added to prevent this wear from occurring.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
- Read and understand all instructions and procedures before you begin the work.
- Read and follow all WARNINGS and NOTICES set forth in this publication. These alerts help to
avoid damage to components, serious personal injury, or both.
- Park the vehicle on a flat, level and solid surface.
- Place the gear shift lever in "Neutral" or "Park".
- Apply the parking brake firmly and confirm parking brake activation.
- Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Always wear safety glasses or goggles to protect your eyes.
- Place wheel chocks in front of and behind all the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.
- Make certain the engine has cooled completely before beginning the repair procedure.

VEHICLE PREPARATION
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level and solid surface.
2. Confirm the engine is stopped, the ignition switch is in the off (LOCK) position, and the key is removed.
3. Apply the parking brake.
4. Chock all of the wheels.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
WARNING: SERIOUS BURNS CAN OCCUR. Do not begin this procedure until the engine
has cooled completely.
1. Release the hood latches and open the hood.
WARNING: The engine must be cooled before this hose is removed or serious burns
can result.
2. Disconnect the recovery hose from the radiator and feed it through the opening in the
reserve tank.

3. Remove the reserve tank cap.
4. Working below the reserve tank on the radiator shroud, carefully slide the overflow hose out
of the clips.
NOTICE: Hold the clip while removing the hose to prevent breakage.
5. Slide the overflow hose out of the clip on the reserve tank bracket. Discard the old reserve
tank cap and hose assembly.

6. Feed the overflow hose on the new reserve tank hose and cap assembly in the reverse
order of steps 4 and 5.
7. Secure the cap in the radiator reserve tank.
8. Feed the new recovery hose through the eyelet on the reserve tank and reconnect to the
radiator. Ensure the hose protector is positioned as shown below.

FINAL INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. To complete this Technical Service Bulletin, review the bulletin and confirm the following:
• The recovery hose protector is positioned around the hose where it passes through the
reserve tank eyelet.
• The overflow hose is properly routed through the securing clips and is not kinked.
Note: This service bulletin is provided as technical information and is not authorization for a
warrantable repair.
