10” FLUSH MOUNT CONDENSER FANS
SPAL, our supplier of fan motors, has recommended a product improvement with respect to the following
condensers which include 10” surface mount fans, and were manufactured between February 1, 2014 and
February 1, 2017:
A. SMC2S Skirt Condenser
B. SMC3L Skirt Condenser
Condensers will have serial numbers between C140887 and C171002
NOTE: For assistance in identifying the above products, please see page 2
The service recommended by SPAL is the installation of a replacement SPAL fan kit for each condenser for
enhanced circuit protection. The fan kit contains fans, fuses, and fuse warning label.
This recommended service is intended to further protect SPAL fan motors incorporated into our condensers from
the possibility of overheating, which could result in non-operational condensers or damage to the unit.
To our End Users:
Your total satisfaction with our products is very important to us, so these enhancements will be at no cost to you
for a period of one year from the date of this service bulletin. For your convenience, you may call Trans/Air and
we will send you the above fan assemblies and fuses, and you can install them per the attached instructions. Or if
you desire, however, you may take your vehicles to an Authorized Service Center and they will install the fan
assemblies and fuses at no charge to you. For the location of one of our authorized service centers, please visit our

The appropriate condenser fan kit will be installed on the existing
condenser per the instructions below. Affix the provided warning label,
showing fuse size, to the fuse holder as shown in the instructions.

10” Condenser Fan Fuse
Product Improvement Instructions
Remove cap from the waterproof circuit protection module, mounted on the venturi panel (fan panel). (Attached
to the harness). See Figure 1
1. Replace existing fans with the fans provided in the replacement fan kit
2. Remove the 20 amp fuses from the module. (Two fuses for two fan condenser, three fuses for three fan
condenser etc.)
3. Install 15 amp fuses directly into the same socket that originally held the 20 amp fuses. NOTE: 15 Amp
Fuse Only – No Substitutes See Figure 2
4. Replace the cap. NOTE: Be sure the cap is seated properly to ensure waterproof seal.
5. Affix supplied warning label (showing fuse size) to cap as shown in fig 3
6. Please document the VIN number of each vehicle retrofitted along with the serial number(s) of the
condensers retrofitted, and fax, e-mail, or send to Trans/Air.
NOTE: Use Trans/Air supplied or Cooper Bussman / Little Fuse equivalent.
