Nissan is conducting a dealer inventory quality action to inspect 2,865 specific 2017
Frontier and 553 NV Passenger vehicles identified in Service Comm for an oil leak at the oil
pressure switch.
Affected vehicles are not subject to stop sale and are either currently in dealer inventory or
assigned and in transit to the dealer. Nissan requests dealers to complete this inspection
and, if necessary, repair prior to sale to ensure customer satisfaction.
*****What Dealers Should Do*****
PLEASE FOLLOW THE ATTACHED REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Verify if vehicles currently in new dealer inventory are affected by this service action
using Service Comm I.D. PC551
 New vehicles in dealer inventory can also be identified using DCS
(Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign).
 Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information
 Please continue to check newly arriving inventory for campaign
applicability.
2. Use the attached procedure to inspect the vehicle.
 If no oil leak is present, no further action is necessary
 If an oil leak is present, the vehicle must be held until further direction is
provided.

3. The service department should submit the applicable warranty claim for the action
performed so it can be closed on Service Comm and release the vehicle.

It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service Comm using the appropriate campaign I.D
for the inspection status on each affected vehicle currently in new vehicle inventory. Nissan
requests dealers to perform this repair on new vehicles in inventory prior to being retailed
to ensure customer satisfaction.

OIL PRESSURE SWITCH INSPECTION

SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Verify the VIN of the affected Vehicle.
2. Put the vehicle on a lift and prepare the vehicle to be raised but do not lift at this time.


Apply Parking Brake.

3. Start the Engine; keep engine at idle for 5 minutes to bring oil up to operating
temperature.


After 5 minutes rev engine to 3000 RPM for 10 seconds.

4. Turn the engine off.

5. Raise the vehicle to gain access to the
underside of the vehicle to perform the
inspection (Figure 1).

6. Looking at the Engine Oil Pan, locate the
Oil Pressure Switch (Figure 2, 3, 4).


The oil pressure switch is located in
the right side of the upper oil pan.



The oil pressure switch has a one wire
harness connection.



The oil pressure switch housing is
silver in color.

7. Inspect the oil pressure switch for an engine oil leak (Figure 5, 6).

If there is NO OIL LEAK FOUND at the oil pressure switch, lower the vehicle and
remove from the lift. Submit a warranty claim for the oil pressure switch inspection
using the claims Op Code PC5510 (see claims info) and release the vehicle.

If there is an OIL LEAK FOUND at the oil pressure switch, the vehicle must be
HELD until further direction is provided. Do not submit a warranty claim. Send an
E-mail with the below requested information to:
