CONDITION SUMMARY:
This version has been issued to change the Title.
Situation: The steering performance may not be as expected intermittently at low vehicle speeds. On Symptom
Driven Diagnostics (SDD) interrogation the fault code B12FB-12 is stored in the Body Control Module (BCM).
Cause: This may be caused by the Body Control Module (BCM) software strategy.
Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction outlined below.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:
1.

CAUTION: A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected
to the vehicle battery during SDD diagnosis / module programming.

NOTE: SDD must be loaded with DVD128.07 v.96 or later.
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the vehicle battery.

NOTE: DTC B12FB-12 must be stored in the BCM to proceed.

2. Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running).
3. Connect the Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) system to the vehicle and begin a new session.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle and initiating the data
collect sequence.
5. Select 'Diagnosis' from the Session Type screen.
6. Select the 'Selected Symptoms' tab, and then select:
Chassis - Steering system - Steering system symptoms - Steering too heavy

7. Select 'continue'.
8. Select the 'Recommendations' tab, and then select 'Run' to perform the 'Configure existing module – Body
control module' option.
9. Select the 'Recommendations' tab, and then select 'Run' to perform the 'Special applications - Steering
performance update' option.
10. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
11. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.
12. Exit the current session.
13. Disconnect the SDD and the battery power supply from the vehicle.
