"SERVICE BULLETIN - IF FUEL ENTERS THE INNER FUEL VENT TUBE, A DTC WILL SET AND THE INNER FUEL VENT TUBE MUST BE REPLACED. A NEW REQUIRED SPECIAL TOOL, WHICH IS A PLUG, WILL PROTECT THE INNER FUEL VENT TUBE WHILE SERVICING THE FUEL TANK UNIT. WHENEVER YOU ARE DOING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES, YOU MUST USE THE REQUIRED ORVR SERVICE PLUG TO PREVENT FUEL FROM ENTERING THE INNER FUEL VENT TUBE: REMOVING AND INSTALLING THE FUEL TANK UNIT. BACKGROUND
If fuel enters the inner fuel vent tube, a DTC will set and the inner fuel vent tube must be replaced. A new required
special tool, which is a plug, will protect the inner fuel vent tube while servicing the fuel tank unit.
Whenever you are doing the following procedures, you must use the required ORVR service plug to prevent fuel from
entering the inner fuel vent tube:
•
Removing and installing the fuel tank unit.
•
Removing and installing the fuel tank assembly.
•
Testing the fuel tank unit.
•
Draining fuel from the fuel tank.

PROCEDURE
Plug Installation
1. Do steps 1 through 7 of the Fuel Tank Unit Removal and Installation procedure. Refer to the service information for
instructions.

2. Hook the plug’s lanyard on the child safety seat hook as shown. Set the plug near the fuel tank unit opening.
NOTE: Do not damage any part of the plug’s surface. Damage to the plug may cause fuel leaks into the inner fuel
vent tube. Use the provided protective cap when the plug is not in use. If there is damage, discard the plug and
order a new one.
3. Disconnect the inner fuel vent tube from the fuel tank unit and hold it. Do not allow the tube to drop into the fuel
tank.

4. Install the plug onto the inner fuel vent tube. Make sure the plug is fully seated by holding the tube and gently
pulling on the plug lanyard. The plug should not come off.
5. Carefully lower the tube into the fuel tank, making sure the plug lanyard is free and away from the fuel tank unit.
NOTE: It is OK for the tube to be submerged in the fuel.
6. Remove the fuel tank unit.
Plug Removal
1. Grab the plug lanyard and pull the inner fuel vent tube up until it is close to the fuel tank unit opening.
2. Move the fuel tank unit aside, allowing space to remove the plug from the tube.
NOTE: Do not allow the tube to fall inside the tank. If fuel enters the inner fuel vent tube, a DTC will set and the
inner fuel vent tube will need to be replaced

3. Remove the plug away from the tank opening and connect the tube to the fuel tank unit.
4. Remove the plug from the child safety seat hook and install the provided protective cap.
5. Install the fuel tank unit into the fuel tank according to the service information.
