Summary
NEWMAR
CORPORATION HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN SPECIFIC MOTOR HOMES. CERTAIN MOTORHOMES MAY HAVE A DEFECTIVE REFRIGERATOR TRAVEL LATCH THAT MAY ACTIVATE WITHOUT THE USERS KNOWLEDGE WHEN THE DOORS ARE CLOSED. IF THE LATCH LOCKS THE DOOR SHUT, THE REFRIGERATOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE ENTRAPMENT/INJURY TO AN INDIVIDUAL. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO FRENCH DOOR STYLE REFRIGERATORS WITH A SPECIFIC TRAVEL LATCH. ATTACHED IS A LIST OF SPECIFIC COACHES AFFECTED.

Description
Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes.
Issue: Certain motorhomes may have a defective refrigerator travel latch that may activate without the user’s
knowledge when the doors are closed. If the latch locks the door shut, the refrigerator cannot be opened from
the inside. This could potentially cause entrapment/injury to an individual. This only applies to French door style
refrigerators with a specific travel latch. Attached is a list of specific coaches affected.
Recommended Action
Correction: Newmar will send a new replacement door latch. The new latch cannot be inadvertently locked and
can only be activated from the exterior of the refrigerator after the doors are closed. Please follow the attached
instructions to complete the travel lock replacement.

Service Procedure
Step 1
Open both top doors (your latch should look like this), then open the bottom drawer.

Slide the lock out of the track.
Step 3
Slide the new latch into the existing track.
Step 4
Adjust the depth of the plungers on drawer and doors as needed. It needs to latch securely without gouging the new
plastic latch.

Subject:Recall Campaign No.: 15V 808
This notice is sent to you as a Newmar Dealer in accordance with the requirements of the National
Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to
motor vehicle safety exists in specific Newmar recreational vehicles.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires that each vehicle which is subject to a recall
campaign of this type must be satisfactorily repaired within a reasonable time after the owner has
tendered it for repair. A failure to adequately repair within 60 days after tender of a vehicle is prima
facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time. To avoid providing these problematic
solutions, every effort must be made to promptly schedule an appointment with each owner and to
repair their vehicle as soon as possible. Vehicle owners are being notified of this recall. If the condition is
not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed on how to contact the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in specific
motor homes.
Certain motorhomes may have a refrigerator travel latch that when the doors close the door lock could
be activated without the user’s knowledge.
If the latch accidentally locked the door shut there are no means to open it from the inside. This could
potentially cause entrapment/injury to an individual. Correction: Newmar will send a new replacement
door latch that cannot be inadvertently locked but can only be activated from the exterior of the
refrigerator after the door is closed.

Vehicle Safety Act. Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety
exists in specific Newmar recreational vehicles.
Each vehicle which is subject to a recall campaign of this type must be satisfactorily repaired within a
reasonable time after the owner has tendered it for repair. A failure to adequately repair within 60 days
after tender of a vehicle is prima facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time. To avoid
providing these problematic solutions, every effort must be made to promptly schedule an appointment
with each owner and to repair their vehicle as soon as possible. Vehicle owners are being notified of
this recall. If the condition is not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed to contact
Transport Canada.

Certain motorhomes may have been manufactured with a refrigerator equipped with a travel latch that
could inadvertently activated without the users knowledge. If the latch accidently locked the door shut,
there would be no means to open it from the inside which could potentially cause entrapment and/or
injury to an individual. Correction: Dealers will install a new door latch that cannot be inadvertently
locked and can only be activated from the exterior of the refrigerator after the door is closed.
These motor homes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.
