Summary
FLEXSTEEL HAS INFORMED NEWMAR
CORPORATION THAT A KIT NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED ON BI-FOLD PULL OUT SOFA SLEEPERS (SSCS) TO PREVENT RETENTION CABLES FROM GETTING PINCHED IN THE HINGE. IF A CABLE GETS PINCHED IN THE HINGE, DAMAGE MAY OCCUR TO THE SOFA CABLE. IF BOTH CABLES ARE DETACHED, BROKEN, OR DEFECTIVE, AND ONLY ONE PERSON IS ON THE BED LYING CLOSEST TO THE SOFA BACK/WALL OF THE COACH, THE UNIT MAY PIVOT AND POTENTIALLY PLACE THE OCCUPANT ON THE FLOOR OR BETWEEN THE BED AND THE BACK OF THE SOFA.

Description
Flexsteel has informed Newmar Corporation that a kit needs to be installed on bi-fold pull out sofa sleepers
(SSCS) to prevent retention cables from getting pinched in the hinge.
Issue: If a cable gets pinched in the hinge, damage may occur to the sofa cable. If both cables are detached,
broken, or defective, and only one person is on the bed lying closest to the sofa back/wall of the coach, the unit
may pivot and potentially place the occupant on the floor or between the bed and the back of the sofa.
Recommended Action
Correction: The new parts kit will route the cable away from the hinge. Order parts kit # 024688
through Newmar Parts Department, and follow the attached instructions to remove existing cable, and
reroute new replacement cable.

Remove cushions
Pull open sleeper to the first position (slide 3)
Locate the lock link with the two holes, see slide
3, there is a link on each side we will be using
the top hole
Place bracket over the cable, being sure to
orient it as shown on page 3 & 4. Using the 1024 Phillips head bolt, insert the bolt into the
bracket and through the front hole of the link,
thread the lock nut onto the bolt and securely
tighten.
Repeat the process on the other side.

Insert bracket over the cable, using the Phillips
head bolt, place bolt through the two holes in the
bracket and into the front hole of link. Thread lock
nut onto bolt and tighten securely.
NOTE: Bracket must be oriented in this position to
work properly.
Repeat process on the other side.
