This is to revise and replace Campaign 1634-B, dated 02-Oct-2015. This revision is to:
1. Provide clarifying narrative, and
2. Update Attachment D.
If additional information is required, contact your Cummins Warranty Operations Group

Description
This Campaign is being issued to address actuator failures for ISB6.7 and ISL CM2350
Engines in transit bus applications. Certified repair locations are authorized to calibrate the
turbo actuator with current software which may reduce failures of the Turbo Actuator.
NOTE: This Campaign is retroactive and covers work performed prior to the release
date of this document.

In order to qualify for repair under this field action, an engine:
1. will be covered Regardless of coverage status, and
2. must be on the attached ESN list.
After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:
Instructions have been provided below. Please refer to Attachment B for a Process Map to be
used for the Turbo Actuator software update.
1. Confirm that engine is eligible for the Campaign. Please refer to the attached ESN list
and Hardware PN Selection file.
2. Install the new turbo actuator software update. For more detailed instructions, please
refer below.
a. If using Insite 8.0, follow instructions detailed in Attachment C.
b. If using Insite 8.1.1, follow instructions detailed in Attachment D.
NOTE: If Insite 8.1.1 is used, ESN list and Hardware PN Selection file will be
needed to choose the correct actuator hardware part number in Insite.
NOTE: Although not required as part of this repair, it is highly recommended
to use Insite 8.0. Insite 8.1.1 can be used but requires additional steps to
update turbo actuator.
NOTE: Information about the INSITE version can be found in the About
INSITE option under the Help tab when INSITE is running.
3. Vehicles that are registered in California have two additional requirements which are
detailed below:
a. A "Label Authorized Change," Cummins Part Number 5297400, must be filled out
per the attachment. Clearly print or type "VGT Actuator Software Update" in the
center box. Fill in the Campaign Number, Distributor or Dealer Code and Date
information. Peel off the backing material and install the label on the engine valve
cover near the engine data plate. There is a clear protective cover on this label;
peel the backing off of this cover and push the clear cover over the printed material.
This will help protect the label during engine operation. Label cost and appropriate
SRT time can be claimed per Campaign guidelines.
b. An "Emissions Campaign - Proof of Correction" form, Bulletin #4310621, must be
filled out and provided to the Customer. Inform the Customer to retain this
certificate as proof that the Emissions Campaign has been performed. This form
may be required as proof of an Emissions Campaign by the State of California, for
vehicles registred in that state, the next time the vehicle registration is renewed.
Form cost and appropriate SRT time can be claimed per the Campaign guidelines.
NOTE: Certified repair locations outside of California, who elect to perform
this Campaign on engines installed in vehicles which are registered in the
state of California, are authorized to do so if they have the two items noted
above in their inventory.
