Complaint:

SRS lamp in instrument cluster lights up

Fault code B000113 "The squib for the driver airbag (stage 1) has a malfunction. There is an open circuit."
and/or

Fault code BQ00213 “The squib for the driver airbag (stage 2) has a malfunction. There is an open circuit."
are stored in the SRS control unit.

Cause:

Contact between interior wiring harness and steering column tube switch module (steering column tube switch modu-
le connector no.1), see attachment 1, item "1"

The exact cause is still being analyzed.

Remedy:

Check resistance of ignition circuit using Xentry Diagnostics:

SRS control unit -> Ignition circuits -> Airbags for driver and front passenger -> Actual values

If one of the actual values is in the upper specified value range -> Further tests as described in Xentry DAS.

If the actual values are OK -> Replace the contacts between the interior wiring harness and the steering column tube
switch module (attachment 1, item "1"):

1.) Replace contacts

- Create access to connector and separate from steering column tube switch module - See AR54.25-P-2802NKB Re-
move/install steering column tube module

- Cut cable tie directly at guide of connector (see attachment 2, item "3").

- Open secondary lock of connector (see attachment 2, item "4").

Important: Repair each line individually in order to avoid mixing up the lines.

- Unpin and replace contacts at steering column tube switch module connector 1, pins 8; 9; 10 and 11.

Note: These contacts are MLK1.2S contacts. Please use the appropriate unpinning tool from the wiring harness repair
kit

Removal tool: A 220 589 01 99 25

Wire stripper: A 220 589 01 99 40

Crimper: A 220 589 01 99 10

Crimping die: A 220 589 01 99 83

Replacement contacts are supplied with a cable tail.

Connect these contacts to vehicle wiring harness using solder connectors (see AROO.19-P-0100A "Wiring harness -
General repair methods” and AROO.19-P-0100-09A "Repairing wiring harness using solder connectors").

- Assemble the connector in the reverse order.

When doing so, makes sure that the secondary lock (see attachment 2, item "4") is fitted and the cables are fixed in
place with the cable tie (see attachment 2, item "3").

2.) Check that the edge clip is correctly positioned and firmly locked (see attachment 1, item "2").

3.) Engage plug connection and attach lead seal

Note: When connecting the plug connection to the steering column tube switch module, make sure that the plug
connection can be felt and heard to lock.

If the fault reoccurs, please report this immediately to the relevant MPC via the PTSS Case Module.
