1. Toyota Issues Voluntary Safety Recall on 655 High Performance Brake Kits on 2007-2012 FJ

Toyota today filed a notice with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it will

conduct a voluntary safety recall of 655 genuine Toyota Racing Development (TRD) High Performance

Brake Kits sold in the United States as an optional accessory for 2007 to 2012 Model Year FJ Cruiser

Vehicles.

Due to the shape of the front outer brake tube (Crossover Tube) of the Brake Kit, the clearance between

the outer brake tube and a TRD 16-inch 6-Spoke alloy wheel is small. If wheel balance weights are

installed in an incorrect location , there is a possibility that the outer brake tube could be damaged due to

interference with the balance weight, and brake fluid could leak from the damaged tube. This could result

in increased stopping distance, and in some cases, loss of vehicle front braking performance, which could

increase the risk of a crash .

The special kits were installed at Toyota vehicle processing centers, at Toyota dealers and sold over the

counter. To ensure that over-the-counter accessory sales customers are notified , all owners of 2007-2012

model year FJ Cruisers will be notified by mail.
2. Scion iQ EV Arrives for Campus and Urban Car-Sharing Programs
The iQ EV, a battery-electric, four-seat city commuter car designed for car-sharing programs in urban and

campus environments, has arrived in the United States, Toyota announced today.

"Approximately 90 iQ EVs will be available for fleet and car-sharing applications," said Chris Hostetter,

TMS group vice president of strategic planning , during an event in Denver. "These programs will further

expand Toyota's comprehensive portfolio of advanced technology vehicles, which includes the recentlyreleased RAV4 EV, the Prius Family of gas-electric hybrid veh icles, including the Prius Plug-in Hybrid ,

and the FCHV-Adv (Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle-Advanced) ."

Details on individual iQ EV program partners will be announced in the coming weeks.
