ElsaWeb Newsletter
Subject: What’s New This Week
Welcome to the new ElsaWeb Newsletter
September 4, 2012
Picture of the Week
This newsletter will be a weekly email written for technicians to update you
on all things new in ElsaWeb. The newsletter will be sent out at the
beginning of the week to inform you of changes made to ElsaWeb in the
previous week. It will include sections for ElsaWeb related news, a
summary of feedback status and feedback updates, highlights/tips from the
previous weeks’ changes and summary tables of the information that has
changed in the past week, this may include technical bulletins, tech tips,
campaigns, RVU's, wiring diagrams, repair manuals, & labor operations.
We from the Service Information team hope that you find this information
useful and valuable.
Feedback Corner
In the Feedback Corner, each week will have a weekly status of open
ElsaWeb feedback and a highlighted feedback. The feedback of the
week is from Jared, regarding a 2010 Volkswagen
Jetta (1K2). He says:
“To remove expansion valve properly it is best to loosen the heat
shield from the engine, to access the expansion valve. Without that there is
no room to get your hands in. Plus the removal of the electric transfer
pump to access bolts for engine side motor mount is required.”
This feedback was verified by the technical editors and then sent to
the factory to be fixed. The repair manual has now been updated to reflect
the change. Jared included his full name and email with the feedback and
will be receiving Generation VW
Bucks for helping improve the quality of
the repair information.

Engines require oil to lubricate and protect the load bearing and internal moving parts from wear
including cylinder walls, pistons and piston rings. When a piston moves down its cylinder, a thin film of
oil is left on the cylinder wall. During the power stroke, part of this oil layer is consumed in the
combustion process. Varying rates of oil consumption are accepted as normal in all engines.
