Unsuccessful Car-Net™ Over The Air Registration (OTAR) during PDI
Car-Net™ LED will not illuminate green at PDI. Operating Control Unit (OCU/J949) will not perform a successful
OTAR (Over The Air Registration).

Note:
Information ONLY applies to Passat vehicles with PR code “EL2 - Online services”, within the specified VIN range
above.
Adaptation value of some modules requires that 50km be placed on odometer before the Car-Net™ module
(OCU/J949) will attempt to perform its OTAR and the LED to illuminate green. Pushing the “i” button in the 3Button assembly will override the 50km requirement of OCU and allow the OTAR to take place.

Production Solution
Adaptation value reduced to 5km on odometer before the Car-Net™ module (OCU/J949) will attempt to perform
its OTAR and the LED to illuminate green.

Service
While performing standard PDI:
• Vehicle removed from transport mode
• Vehicle outside with a clear line of site to the sky
• Push the “i” button in the 3-Button assembly located in the overhead console (pre-recorded voice should be
heard)
• Cycle ignition OFF then back ON
• Wait the necessary 5 minutes for LED to illuminate green
Tip:
If the LED is already Illuminated green, pushing the “i” button is NOT required and this TB does not
apply.
