Complaint:

Dynamic seat control is not functioning correctly and/or air cushions do not inflate fully.
Cause:

Pressure supply insufficient.
Remedy:

1. Evaluate the fault memory

2a.) If the fault code (control unit) is 9260 "No or insufficient pressure supply", the pressure supply of the dynamic seat

pump must be checked.

The pressure must be: P> 1400 hPa. If the pressure is inside the specified range, the fault codes of the pump must be

checked.

2b.) If the fault code is 9250 "Safety time exceeded, gross leak", the lines between the pressure reservoir, the seat

and the pump must be checked for leaks.

Note: If code 9260 is present, check the contacts on the control unit and also check the pneumatic lines for kinks.

If there are kinks along the lines, the responsible MPC must be contacted. To allow inspection, TIPS cases should be

sent with photos of the kinking point (with components still installed).

3. lffault code (control unit) 9250-9258 and fault code (pump) 9180-9181 are present, the control unit is detecting a

leak in the bladders. The contacts of the control units must be checked. Furthermore, the bladders must be checked

for leaks with the aid of a pressure gauge.

Example pressure gauge: 201 589 13 21 00 vacuum tester (testing unit 0- 1000 mbar, scale division 5 mbar, for pressure and vacuum)

General note:

Check vehicle for kinked lines. If there are no kinked lines, check the pump.

If fault code 9261 occurs and the customer complains that his dynamic seat function stops after approx. 1 hour (function OK again after ignition off/on), a repair kit must be installed in vehicles produced up to September 2006.

To obtain the repair kit, you must order the predecessor pump with object number A211 800 01 48. With this object

number you will receive an optimized pump with protective cap and a wiring harness. The following AR describes how

Note: Installation of the repair kit requires the use of a special tool, which can be ordered via the GLC as of February

2, 2007. When installing, be careful not to cause any damage or kinks in the lines and their contacts.

Validity for vehicles with SA codes 433+434.

Work instructions for installation of repair kit:

Note: When the pneumatic pump is replaced on vehicles up to 31.08.2006, the pneumatic pump with the fourcolor pneumatic line set used in vehicles as of 1.09.2006 must be installed.

Disconnect pressure line from pressure reservoir.

Disconnect vent line from pressure reservoir.

Connect green pneumatic line in place of the pressure line.

Connect blue pneumatic line in place of the vent line.

Connect red pneumatic line to the pneumatic line on the vehicle.

After installing the pneumatic pump, fasten the pneumatic line harness to the pneumatic pump using a cable tie.

Info· Route the pneumatic wiring harness so that it cannot chafe and does not kink.
