Squeaking/creaking noises from area of seat adjuster
Cause:

Contact between upper and lower rail at rear end of tunnel-side seat rail I seat fore/aft adjustment.

Seat rails not greased sufficiently.

Abrasion of wire frame in seat cushion

Remedy:

The following steps must be performed in sequence.

A) Grease seat rails.

1. Move seat fore/aft adjustment to the front (see picture 1).

2. Move seat height adjustment (rear) upward (see picture 1).

3. Use a brush to apply grease (A 002 989 07 51) to lower rail on tunnel side in the area shown (see picture 2) and

spread the grease film to the end of the seat rail

(see picture 3).

4. Thoroughly clean upper and lower areas (see picture 4) of door-side rail and apply grease (A 002 989 07 51) with

the aid of a brush.

In warmer regions use grease A 000 989 38 60.

B) Grease rear seat cushion guide:

1. Move seat cushion fore/aft adjustment to front position.

2. Push seat cushion away on tunnel side. (See picture 5796)

3. Grease plastic sliders with spray grease A 000 989 35 60. (See picture 5799)

4. Also regrease door-side slider.

C) Grease front seat cushion guide:

1. Detach left and right side trim.

2. Move seat cushion fore/aft adjustment to front position.

3. Lubricate both plastic guides with grease A 002 989 07 51. (See picture 5790 & 5791)

4. Apply spray grease A 000 989 35 60 under plastic sliders. (See picture 5794 & 5793)

D) If noises can still be heard in the area of the seat cushion, this may be caused by the foamed wire frame rubbing

against the cushion shell.
