Optimization of technical content.

Reason for block

Complaint:
Corrosion or paint damage in the area of the opener cutout.
Corrosion or paint damage in the area of the handle strip.
Cause:
Sharp stamping burrs or inadequate coating of opener cutout.
Tolerances between handle strip and liftgate too tight.
Remedy:
- Replacement of the liftgate is permissible when there is stock removal (in the sheet steel) of more than 1.5 mm or
rust-through damage over a length of 3 cm in the area of the handle cutout. See picture "Reference sample" in the attachment.
Replace rear-end door: Always deburr the opener cutout before painting.
Remove/install rear-end door, model 163, see AR72.20-P-3500GH
Corrosion in handle strip/opener cutout area: For designation see "Rear-end door components" in attachment.
1. In the event of problems, visually inspect area (A) around handle strip (2) of rear-end door ( 1).
2. Remove license plate (3) from rear-end door (1).
3. Remove handle strip (2) from rear-end door (1): See document AR72.20-P-3650GH.
4. Remove corrosion on inside and outside around area (A) of handle strip (2) on rear-end door (1).
5. Paint rear-end door (1): See document AR98.00-P-0200-08D .
. 6. Before installing handle strip (2) onto rear-end door (1 }, wax surrounding area using MB cavity preservation wax:
See document AR97.20-P-0500A. For preservation agents see "Parts"
7. Mask off rear-end door (4) in areas (2) using commercially available PU tape: See picture "Adhesive points" in attachment.
8 Install in the reverse order
