Complaint:

Corrosion effects or chafe marks in handle strip area.

Paint blistering on the tailgate.
Cause:

Handle strip:

Design-related cause due to insufficient clearance of the handle strip.

Paint blistering:

Dust inclusions during zinc-coating.
Remedy:

In the event of a customer complaint, the liftgate must be checked for all possible damage profiles.

If other damage profiles are discovered in the process, these must be treated in accordance with the remedial instructions

Corrosion effects or chafe marks in handle strip area:

1. Remove/install handle strip (AR 72.20-P-3650GZA)

2. Deburr opener cutout

3. For chafe marks, touch up paint with a touch-up paint pen (continue with step 7)

4. For corrosion effects, thoroughly remove the corrosion

5. Clean treated areas (silicone remover)

6. Restore paintwork structure in accordance with paint supplier's specifications (below the window)

7. Stick prestamped protective foils on tailgate

8. Replace threaded pin

9. Apply preservation agent to the inside of the tailgate before reassembling

10. Assemble liftgate
