Technical background

The tonneau positbn mtro switch assembfy is mounted to the vehd~ via a brass bush encapsulated in the switch mouk:Jing this bush may have been
inverted when the switch mouk:Jing was formed. When this is the case the switch will become detached from the mounting plate. Ultimatefy the
convertible roof system will fail to operate.

The tonneau positbn mtro switch assembfy on all appltable vehtles shouk:J be inspected . A switch mouk:Jing found to be in correctfy manufactu re
shouk:J be replaced

Fgure 5), shouk:J neither be evdent carry out the required work in accordance with these instructbns

Work
The folbwing shouk:! be noted before the procedures are ca rred out:

Warning: There is no anti-trap feature fitted to the linkage flaps, front header pane~ tension bow or tonneau cover. Ensure all
persons are clear of the mechanism, and there are no obstructions in the vicinity during the operation of the roof

Caution: To avoid a clash of panels it is important that the luggage compartment and tonneau cover assembly are not opened at the
same time. One of these must be fully closed at aB times

Note: To carry out the following procedures, the power operated roof assembly wm have to be positioned partially open in a
transient state. With the ignition on any transient roof position will only be maintained for 10 minutes after which a warning wiO
sound prior to the roof assembly gradually fokling down as the hydraulic pressure decays. Therefore to enable the following
operation to be carried out the roof shoukl be secured using 2 ratchet straps linked together (part number T10038)

Inspect the tonneau cover hinge microswitch assembly securing bush. Fi;Jure 2 shows the correctly oriented brass bush with the fastener head
bearing on the 'top hat' sectbn of the brass bush. Fi;Jure 3 depicts an incorrectly manufacture assembly where the brass bush is inverted and
the top hat sectbn is not visible. This failure will result in the switch housing assembly lifting off the bush resulting in the convertible roof fa iling to
operate

If the 'top hat' bush (1) fgure 4 is correctly oriented then apply a blue campai;Jn completbn mark to the switch housing no further work is
recuired (see Fi;Jure 5). If the housing is found to contain and incorrectly orientated bush then replace the switch assembly (part number
3W7953229A) Rep Gr 61 Tonneau cover hinge microswitch - To remove, fit and set
