Repair instructions

Technical background
A potental compresson point has been aentifud between the tonneau cover hydrauli:: ram and the C flap Bowden cabe as it routes under the
tonneau cover drive system (see Fgure 1). A revised cfip arrangement has been specifud to avoa this compresson damage. In severe cases the
damage to the Bowden cabe is such as to impair correct operafon of the C flap, therefore a test of the C flap funcfon is required to ensure the
Bowden cabes are servi::eabe before impementing the revised cfip arrangement

Fgure 1 detais the orginal routing and singe cabe tie (C) securing the Bowden cabe (shown in yellw). The detail at point A shows the
potental contact point between the tonneau cover hydrauic ram and the Bowden cabe. The actual contact takes place when the tonneau is
almost cbsed and therefore the cbse proximity of the hydrauli:: ram and the Bowden cabe cannot be seen when viewed with the tonneau
cover in a transient positon. Detail B shows, in this case, a secton of the outer sheath of the Bowden ca be that has been removed by repeated
contact with the ram. Note: as bng as the system has passed the C flap functon test then the absence of some of the outer sheathe is not
suffcient grounds to change the cabes

Remedy
Al affected vehi::es require a C flap functon check to ensure correct operaton before either apptying the revised cfip arrangement or in the case of
faied functon test refer to TPI 2033467 C flap Bowden cabe repl:tcement

visit. You shou(l also inform your new and used car saes departments so that the vehi::es affected can be checked and, if necessary, repaired

The procedural out6ne for this workshop campai;Jn is:
Functbn test C flap operatbn and measure against specifi:atbn
Systems performing to speciftatbn fit the revised dp arrangement to both Bowden cables
On systems not performing to specifi:atbn refer to TPI 2033467 to carry out C flap Bowden cable replacement
The fot>wing procedure describes the operatbn being carred out on the ri;Jht hand sde of the roof assembly. The same operatbn must be carred
out on the left hand si'.le
The fotJwing shouk:I be noted before the procedures are carred out

Warning: There are no anti-trap features fitted to the linkage flaps, front header pane~ tension bow or tonneau cover. Ensure al
persons are clear of the mechanism, and there are no obstructions in the vicinity durS!g the operation of the roof

Caution: To avoid a clash of panels it is important that the luggage compartment and tonneau cover assembly are not opened at the
same time. One of these must be fuly closed at al times

Note: To carry out the folowing procedures, the power operated roof assembly wl have to be positioned partialy open in a
transient state. With the ignition on any transient roof position wl only be maintained for 10 minutes after which a warning wl
sound prior to the roof assembly gradualy folding down as the hydraulic pressure decays. Therefore consideration should be given
to supporting the roof system during the folowing procedure (see Figure 6)

Caution: Whenever air tools are employed or compressed air is used to remove debris it is imperative that the air is clean and dry and
does not contain any lubricants. The exhaust from an air tool suppled with lubricated air is likely to stain the hood
Function Test

1.

Throughout the test proced ure correct system voltage must be maintained therefore ensure a suitable battery charger is connected to the
vehK:le via engine bay charging lead WT 10165

2.

With an assistant operating the power operated hood observe a ful open and cbse cycle. During the cycle note the operati:m of both C flaps.

3.

Both C flaps shoutl operate simulaneously and in synchronisatbn with a smooth actbn

With the ignitbn on, partialy raise the power operated roof unU the tonneau cover is hetl in the vertK:al positbn and secured against the bck
stops on the hinge mechanism (see Figure 2)

Referencing figures 3, 4 and 5 take a measurement between point (A), C flap obscurati:>n lip, and (B), tonneau brghtware securing bol head.
The correct specificati:>n for this measurement is 74mm to 90mm. If this measurement is not to specifcati:>n or the C flaps are out of
synchronisati:>n or judder during operati:>n then refer to TPI 2033467 to carry out C flap Bowden cabe replacement . If the C flap is to
specificati:>n then perform the revised cip arrangement

With the tonneau cover stl hek:J in the verti:al positi:>n, support the tensi:>n bow with a suitabe prop taking care not to damage any trim (see
figure 6)

Remove the orginal cabe tie securing the Bowden cabe (C) to the tonneau cover drive system and discard the clip securing the Bowden cabe
at point D, securing point Dis not used with this revised cip arrangement (see.Fgure 1)

Referencing figure 7 secure the Bowden cabe to the tonneau cover drive system using two cabe ties. Ensure the Bowden cabe is retained
underneath, abng the bottom of the bracket, where it cannot come into contact with the hydraulK:: ram . It may be necessary to temporarly
reease the Bowden cabe from other retaining cips to gain suffi::ient ength to enabe the two new cabe ties to be attached.

The final route and clipping arrangement is detaied in Fgure 8. Note: The orgnal stud and crip positon prevously securing t he Bowden cabe
at point D is not to be used with this new arrangement

Identification
The presence of cabe ties conforming to the bcaton specified in this document w~ serve to indi:ate that this campagn has been performed (see
Fgure 7)
