Technical background
A potential compression point has been aentifed between the tonneau cover hydraulc ram and the C flap Bowden cabe as it routes under the
tonneau cover drive system (see Fgure 1). A revised cfip arrangement has been specifed to avoa this compression damage. In severe cases the
damage to the Bowden cable is such as to impair correct operation of the C flap, therefore a test of the C flap function is required to ensure the
Bowden cables are servceabe before impementing the revised cfip arrangement

Fgure 1 details the orginal routing and singe cable te (C) securing the Bowden cabe (shown in yelbw). The detail at point A shows the
potential contact point between the tonneau cover hydrauic ram and the Bowden cable. The actual contact takes place when the tonneau is
almost cbsed and therefore the cbse proximity of the hydraulc ram and the Bowden cable cannot be seen when vewed with the tonneau
cover in a transent position. Detail B shows, in this case, a section of the outer sheath of the Bowden cable that has been removed by repeated
contact with the ram. Note: as bng as the system has passed the C flap function test then the absence of some of the outer sheathe is not
sufftent grounds to change the cables

Remedy
Al affected vehcles require a C flap function check to ensure correct operation before either applying the revised cfip arrangement or in the case of
failed function test refer to TPI 2033467 C flap Bowden cable replacement

Customers do not need to be informed directly of this campagn. Pease ensure that al affected vehcles are checked and repaired during a servce
visit. You shou[I also inform your new and used car sales departments so that the vehcles affected can be checked and, if necessary, repaired
immediately (and not just before saes)

Work
The procedural outline for this workshop campagn is:
Functbn test C flap operatbn and measure against specifi::atbn
Systems performing to specificatbn fit the revised cip arrangement to both Bowden cabes
On systems not performing to specifi::atbn refer to TPI 2033467 to carry out C flap Bowden cabe replacement
The folbwing procedure describes the operatbn being carried out on the rght hand side of the roof assembly . The same operatbn must be carried
out on the eft hand side
The folbwing shouk:I be noted before the procedures are carried out
Warning: There are no anti-trap features fitted to the linkage flaps, front header pane~ tension bow or tonneau cover. Ensure al
persons are clear of the mechanism, and there are no obstructions in the vicinity during the operation of the roof

Caution: To avoid a clash of panels it is important that the luggage compartment and tonneau cover assembly are not opened at the
same time. One of these must be fully closed at al times

Note: To carry out the following procedures, the power operated roof assembly will have to be positioned partially open in a
transient state. With the ignition on any transient roof position wil only be maintained for 10 minutes after which a warning wil
sound prior to the roof assembly gradually folding down as the hydrauric pressure decays. Therefore consideration should be given
to supporting the roof system during the folowing procedure (see Figure 6)

Caution: Whenever air tools are employed or compressed air is used to remove debris it is inlperative that the air is clean and dry and
does not contain any lubricants. The exhaust from an air tool supplied with klbricated air is likely to stain the hood
Function Test

1.

Throughout the test procedure correct system voltage must be maintained therefore ensure a suitable battery charger is connected to the
vehk:le via engine bay charging lead WT 10165

2.

With an assistant operating the power operated hood observe a fuD open and cbse cycle. During the cycle note the operaton of both C flaps.

3.

Both C flaps shouk:J operate simutaneousf{ and in synchronisaton with a smooth acton

With the i;Jniton on, partialty raise the power operated roof unti the tonneau cover is hek:J in the vertk:al positon and secured against the bck
stops on the hinge mechanism (see Fi;Jure 2)

Referencing fgures 3, 4 and 5 take a measurement between point (A), C flap obscuratbn lip, and (B), tonneau brghtware securing bolt head .
The correct specifcatbn for this measurement is 74mm to 90mm. If this measurement is not to speciftatbn or the C flaps are out of
synchronisatbn or judder during operatbn then refer to TPI 2033467 to carry out C flap Bowden cable replacement. If the C flap is to
speciftatbn then perform the revised cfip arrangement

With the tonneau cover st~ hel::I in the vertical positon, support the tenson bow with a suitable prop taking care not to damage any trim (see
figure 6)

Remove the orginal cable tie securing the Bowden cable (C) to the tonneau cover drive system and discard the clip securing the Bowden cable
at point D, securing point D is not used with this revised cip arrangement (see Fgure 1)

Referencing fgure 7 secure the Bowden cable to the tonneau cover drive system using two cable ties. Ensure the Bowden cable is retained
underneath, abng the bottom of the bracket, where it cannot come into contact with the hydrauic ram. It may be necessary to temporariy
release the Bowden cable from other retaining crips to gain suffcient length to enable the two new cable ties to be attached.

The final route and clipping arrangement is detailed in Fgure 8. Note: The orginal stud and clip posit:on prevousff securing the Bowden cable
at point D is not to be used with this new arrangement
