Technical Background
The introducti:ln of the Bentley Continental GT VB brings a new engine to the Bentley family. This al new 4.0 itre VB twin turbo joins the 6.0 litre W 12
in the Continental range with the 6.75 itre VB reserved for the Mulsanne.
Each of these three engines had ind iv dual desgn criteria producing unque driving characteristcs as a resut each have ind iv dual h.Jbrcati:ln
requirements and oil consumpti:ln statistcs.
With the 4.0 itre VB comes a new oi to Bentley - this new engine ubrcant VW50400/50700 must onff be used in the 4.0 rrt:re VB.
The use of the correct oil for each engine is critcal to its continued performance, reriabirt:y and ultimateff warranty .

The follwing shouk::l be consdered when discussing engile oil consumpti:ln and oil top up between servces with an owner.
Typcaly the engine w~ consume more oil during the running in peri:ld and wl stabilise once the running in process is complete. Refer to the owner
handbook for the running in procedure.
Under normal conditi:lns, the rate of oil consumpti:ln depends on the quality and viscosity of the oi, the RPM at whch the engine is operated, the
ambient temperature and road conditi:Jns. Further factors are the amount of oil diluti:Jn from water condensati:Jn or fuel resdue and the ox dati:ln
level of the oil. The diluting ingredients evaporate when the vehcle is driven at hgh speeds, as on a motorway, making it appear that the ol is
excessiveff consumed after driving at hgh speed. Refer to the owner handbook Maintenance section for specific oil consumption figures.
