Product Release: Front Drive Steer (FDS) Axle MX-XX-120-EVO and Transfer Case (T-case)
MTC-4208XL-EVO/MTC-4210XL-EVO

Models:

MX120 EVO series axles and MTC EVO series T-cases

In an ongoing effort to incorporate customer feedback and to continually optimize the product portfolio,
Meritor is pleased to announce the release of FDS Axle family MX-XX-120-EVO and T-case family MTC-4208XLEVO/MTC-4210XL-EVO.
MX-XX-120-EVO Family of FDS Axles:
The MX-XX-120-EVO family of FDS axles is the evolution of the current MX-XX-120 FDS axle family and is
intended for weight ratings from 8,000 to 14,000 pounds and includes the following features:








Replaces the current MX-XX-120 offered in the same wt. rating of 8,000 to 14,000 pounds*
Significant weight reduction (approximately 300 pounds) compared to the current MX-XX-120
Continued use of the proven Meritor 16.5” x 5” Q+™ brakes*
Identical vehicle connection interfaces as the current MX-XX-120
Continued use of the durable R120 differential carrier
- Current axle ratios will continue to be available
Provides greater turn angle capability for reduced vehicle turning radius
- Max axle turn angle is 50 (current MX-XX-120 max turn angle is 42)
Incorporates oil lubricated wheel ends, which are more service friendly over the current grease
lubricated wheel ends

* The current MX-XX-120 axle will continue to be available for wt. ratings above 14,000 pounds and in
applications that require 16.5” x 6” brakes

MTC-4208XL-EVO/MTC-4210XL-EVO Family of T-cases:
The MTC-4208XL-EVO/MTC-4210XL-EVO family of T-cases is the evolution of the current
MTC-4208XL/MTC-4210XL T-case family and includes the following features:





Replaces the current MTC-4208XL/MTC-4210XL family of T-cases
Identical vehicle connection interfaces as the current T-case
Significant operating temperature reduction (approx. 40F) compared to the current T-case
Uses up to 25% less oil than the current T-case

Meritor specifications and engineering groups will be assisting customers to release new top level numbers for
these evolutionary products and Meritor product nomenclature will also be updated to include these.
Customer Transition Plan:
Both of the above evolutionary products will become available June 2015. The customer purchase order
transition schedule is as follows:



Purchase orders for current products will be accepted until end of April 2015 and will be fulfilled by July
2015. Beyond April 2015, orders for current products will not be accepted.
Purchase orders for new products will be accepted starting March 23, 2015 and will start shipping June
2015.

Service Plan:
Service orders for the current MX-XX-120 and MTC-4208XL/MTC-4210XL products that are placed after April
2015 will be handled as follows:



Loose components – same or equivalent service components / kits will still be available through normal
Meritor aftermarket channels.
Complete top level MX-XX-120 axles or MTC-4208XL/MTC-4210XL T-cases – the equivalent new
product will be shipped. Orders for the discontinued products will automatically be converted to the
equivalent new products by Meritor aftermarket group.
