Service Action: Folding Top Enhancement Program

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: An issue has been identified on a limited number of 2014 model year F-TYPE (X152) vehicles within
the listed VIN range relating to the folding top. These issues are:

1. When in the stowed (open) position, the folding top may contact the flaps in the corner.
2. The routing of the folding top harness may cause fouling on the folding top mechanism to wear
through the braiding.
3. As a result of normal opening / closing of the folding top, the lower header trim contacts the
carpet bezel. This contact, over time, may result in white marks on the header trim.

Action: Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles within the listed VIN range that are in their control
and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action
detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Unsold vehicles should have this performed as part of the Pre-Delivery
Inspection (PDI) process but must have it completed prior to vehicle handover to the customer. Affected vehicles
already in the hands of customers should be updated at the next available opportunity.

rework action. Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times / prices are subject to
change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Refer to TOPIx to obtain the latest repair
time. At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, ensure that all outstanding Service Actions
are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for
repairs to be completed at one visit.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code 'K192', Option Code 'X', and the relevant SRO
information. The SRO that allows for the drive in / drive out allowance may only be claimed if the vehicle is brought
into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.
This program is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 31 March 2016 closure
date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of completion of the repair.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:
Inspect Folding Top Gap - Check/Adjust

1. With the folding top in the open position, assess
the gap from the folding top to the secondary
folding top flap. It should be at least 2mm
(vertically) and even across the vehicle.
If the gap is OK (no contact present), continue

to Folding Top Harness - Check/Adjust or
Replace.
If the gap is not OK (contact present),
continue to step 2.

2. Adjust the gap from the folding top to the
secondary folding top flap:
Lift the folding top to the halfway position;

make sure the folding top flaps are fully
raised.
Locate the downstop (see fleck of yellow
paint) and use an 11mm socket and extension
to raise or lower the folding top (clockwise
lowers / anti-clockwise raises the folding top).
Any adjustment should be made in half-turn
increments (either way) up to a maximum of
two (2) turns.
Open the folding top and assess the gap from
the folding top to the secondary folding top
flap. It should be at least 2mm (vertically)
and even across the vehicle.
• If the gap is OK (no contact
present), continue to Folding
Top Harness - Check/Adjust or
Replace.
• If the gap is not OK (contact
present), continue to step 3.

3. If contact is still present, adjust the ‘Down lockto-flaps link rod’ one (1) turn (clockwise
[inboard] lowers the secondary folding top / anticlockwise [outboard] raises the secondary folding
top flap).

4. Further adjustment can be can be achieved by
turning the secondary folding top flap cap screw
clockwise.

5. In extreme cases, remove the secondary folding
top flap assembly mounting bracket, modify the
slots to create forward and backward adjustment
using a suitable tool.

6. With the folding top in the open position, operate
the folding top switch until the secondary folding
top flaps are in the raised position.
Check for wiring harness damage and harness

position under both of the folding top flaps.

NOTE: Right-hand harness shown.
Inspect the right-hand harness; make sure righthand harness is looped below the link and pulled
down rather than trapped horizontally against
the foam.
If the harness is routed correctly, continue to

step 8.
If the harness is not routed correctly, continue

to step 7.

8. If the harness is positioned incorrectly,
disconnect the harness to manipulate it to the
correct position.
Once the harness is positioned correctly,

continue to the next step.

Inspect the left-hand harness; make sure lefthand harness is looped below the link and pulled
down rather than trapped between the link and
the foam.
If the harness is routed correctly, continue to
