This service tip contains instructions on how to download the Central Infotainment Unit (CIU) software and
how to correctly format and load the software files on to the USB flash drive.

TITLE: Central Infotainment Unit Software Download / USB Flash Drive Setup
1. Downloading CIU Software
The Central Infotainment Unit requires additional files to be downloaded from the Fisker Service
Information website. These files will then be extracted and transferred to a USB flash drive. When
downloading these files, it is recommended that the laptop is connected to the internet with an
Ethernet cable as these are large files and take up to 2+ hours depending on your internet
connection.
1a. Log into the Fisker Service Information website:

1b. The additional CIU software is available in the Diagnostics > CIU Software menu (figure 1).

1c. The CIU software is compressed and encrypted in a .7z file format. This is done to protect and
reduce the size of the download. To extract the file after it is saved to your computer; you must
download and install 7 Zip File Manager.
NOTE: This step can be skipped if 7 Zip File Manager is already installed on your laptop.
– In the CIU Software page, click the 7 Zip 64 Bit File link and save it to your computer.
– Locate and open the file 7z920-x64. Follow the on screen instructions to install 7 Zip File
Manager.

1d. The CIU Software is regional specific and will require that you download and save the correct
file for your region (North America or Europe) for the baseline version the vehicle is being updated
to.
Example:
● North America: “UNITED STATES, CANADA BL ‘###’ CIU UPDATE”
● Europe: “EUROPE ‘###’ CIU UPDATE”
NOTE: Some CIU updates may have more than 1 step and will be labeled Step 1, Step 2, etc...
For more information on the correct files and any special steps required, the latest Baseline
Release service bulletin.
1e. Once the correct CIU software is saved to the laptop, it must be extracted with 7 Zip File
Manager and the contents must be copied onto a formatted (FAT 32) USB drive.
– Right-click on the CIU file and select Open with > 7 Zip File Manager (figure 2).

– Enter the password to access the software. This password can be found in the related
service bulletin for the software level you are updating the CIU to.
Example:
● The password for 615 baseline CIU software can be found in the 615 Baseline Release
Overview Service Bulletin (figure 3).

1f. Click on the Extract button at the top of the menu and select a location to extract the contents
of the file (figure 4). Click OK and a dialog box will show you file transfer progress (figure 5).

2. Preparing the USB Flash Drive
2a. Insert a USB flash drive into one of the USB ports on the laptop.
2b. Double-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop to open Windows Explorer.
2c. Right-click on the USB drive and select Format… (figure 6).

2d. Ensure that FAT32 is selected under the File System drop down menu; Click Start and then
OK to begin (figure 7). This will erase all data that is currently on the USB drive. A Format Complete dialog box will appear when formatting of the USB is complete (figure 8).

2e. Click OK when the format has completed.
2f. Locate and open the folder location of the files that were extracted in Step 1f.
2g. Highlight all of the files in the folder and select Copy (figure 9).

2h. Open the USB drive’s folder and paste the navigation files into it.
– Verify the file size is correct for the navigation file downloaded.
2i. Highlight all of the files, right-click and select Properties to view this information.
– Compare the number and size of the files to the specifications located in related Baseline
Release Overview Service Bulletin.
2j. Once the correct files are on the USB drive, close all windows and eject the drive.
