now provides doser shields and clamps in kits rather than as individual pieces. (Prices for parts are the same
as for kits.)
01/24/12; UPDATES:
Several dealers have asked if they may update software before installing the doser shield. The answer
is NO. Do Not update a vehicle to software version 7.0_08 until the Doser shield has
been installed. This is necessary to prevent the potential for fuel spray to the turbo due to increased
pressure.
PRS software updates are not currently available for all chassis. PEP continues to be updated and all
updated PRS files will be available by the time dealer orders for doser shields are filled.

Condition
Kenworth has determined that the chassis listed should have a protective shield for the HC Doser fitting

installed and software updates for the Engine Control Unit (ECU), identified as PMCI in Engine Rapido, and
for the Aftertreatment Control Unit.
See the BACKGROUND section of this bulletin for a description of specific product improvement elements.

Chassis Affected
Select T660s, T700s, T800s, and W900s built between 05/20//09 – 12/22/11 and powered by PACCAR MX
Engines. See the attached dealer-customer-chassis list and customer letter.
NOTE: The chassis list includes only units with PACCAR MX engines, model years 2010 and 2011. The
engine model year can be confirmed from the engine emission label located on the valve cover. A certification
statement at the lower left corner of the label includes the engine model year (2010 or 2011 for this campaign
to apply).

Action
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if the customer has no issue with the chassis.
Use the procedure below. Review DWC or SIR online systems to verify that campaign “E050” is still open or
already completed prior to performing this repair.
NOTES:
Software update bulletin E050 supersedes previous software update bulletin E045.
A number of MX update bulletins have been published and a chassis subject to this service bulletin may
be subject to others. Review campaign codes in DWC or SIR to ensure all applicable campaign repairs
are completed while the chassis is at your dealership for service.

Warranty
There is no time or mileage limit for this campaign. Kenworth will pay parts at dealer net plus applicable markup and labor appropriate to the repair required. See the chassis list for reference to the appropriate Quick
Claim, described below.

Background
Elements of the campaign and resulting enhancements are as follows:
A protective shield has been designed for the HC Doser fitting to prevent fuel spray to the turbo due to

increased pressure. Do Not update a vehicle to software version 7.0_08 until the Doser shield has
been installed.
The software update includes calibrations to address false warnings with the following fault codes:
•
- P1136 “Lambda Sensor Short Circuit To Ground On ECU Pin C46”
- P1139 “Lambda Sensor Calibration”
- P1711 “NOx Before Catalyst Plausibility Signal Value Higher Than Expected”
- P3769 “Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) Temperature Rise Insufficient”
- P3782 “Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Too Frequent Regeneration”
- P3816 “Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Efficiency Not Reached”
- P3835 “Fuel dosing Module Fuel Circuit Leakage”
Additional system improvements from software update include the following:
