THE WRENCH SYMBOL COMES ON AND THE DIGITAL INSTRUMENT SCREEN GOES BLANK AND THE TRANSMISSION EITHER GETS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR OR WILL START OFF IN 3RD AND ONLY SHIFT THROUGH 5TH GEAR. YOU CAN TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT AND MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL RESET AND START OFF IN FIRST AND THE SCREEN WILL RETURN TO NORMAL. UNUSUALLY WHEN THIS OCCURS WHEN STARTING TO DRIVE AGAIN IT WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR AND AT THIS TIME YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND RECONNECT AFTER 15 SECONDS TO REGAIN MOBILITY. I HAVE REPLACED THE PCM TO NO AVAIL. THE NEW PCM IS REGISTERING A CODE NOW FOR THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR WHICH HAS HAD A RECALL IN OTHER 2011-12 F150 MODELS. THROUGH RESEARCH AND CONVERSATIONS ON FORD TRUCK FORUM'S I HAVE LEARNED A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

CAR DISPLAYED SIGN DRIVE-TRAIN MALFUNCTION/OIL PRESSURE LOW AND WITHIN 30 SECONDS STOPPED. IT WENT FROM 50 MPH TO ZERO IN 30 SECONDS. I BARELY SURVIVED A MAJOR ACCIDENT OVER A BUSY HIGHWAY (RT 78 EAST BOUND IN NJ). LATER ON BMW SERVICE CENTER REPORTED ENGINE FAILED FOR UNKNOWN REASON. I CAME TO KNOW THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINT AGAINST BMX X3 2013 SIMILAR MODEL AND MANY DRIVERS LIKE ME BARELY SURVIVED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. BMW IS PLAYING WITH OUR LIVES BY NOT RECALLING THIS MODEL. IT IS CLEARLY A MAJOR MANUFACTURING FAULT IN THIS ENGINE. THERE ARE MULTIPLE LAWSUITS ON BMW BUT I DO NOT HEAR ANY POSITIVE OUTCOME. WHILE DOWNSHIFTING, THE SHIFTER LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT. I PULLED THE CLUTCH LEVER IN AND TRIED TO DOWN SHIFT AGAIN. THE SHIFTER MOVED DOWNWARD BUT THEIR WAS A LOUD BANG THAT SOUNDED LIKE METAL PIECES SHATTERING. I HAD TO PUT MY MOTORCYCLE ON A TRAILER TO GET IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DISASSEMBLED THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION TO FIND #4 GEAR WAS MISSING TEETH. THEY INFORMED ME THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED BECAUSE THE VICTORY TRANSMISSION USED CONSTANT MESHED GEARS, THE GEARS NEVER SEPERATE AND REMESH.THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT I WAS LUCKY THAT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT LOCK UP CAUSING THE REAR TIRE TO LOCK UP. THIS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A PROBABLE CRASH. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE RETAINING CLIPS USED TO HOLD THE GEARS IN PLACE HAD BEEN LOOSE FOR AWHILE AND AGAIN WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT IT HAPPENED CLOSE TO HOME AND AT A LOWER SPEED.
