THE ISSUE SEEMED LINED TO THE CLOCK SPRING. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT JOE MORGAN HONDA IN MONROE, OH ON 8/29/20 FOR 8/31/20. JOE MORGAN HONDA CONFIRMED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE CLOCK SPRING AKA CABLE REEL. THE INVOICE IS ATTACHED. JOE MORGAN HONDA EXPLAINED THAT IF I HAD LET THE ISSUE GO LONGER, THE NOISE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN WORSE. EVENTUALLY THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS AND HORN WOULD LOSE POWER, AS WELL AS THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG. THIS IS WHERE THE MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE COMES INTO PLAY. JOE MORGAN HONDA CONTACTED THE TECH LINE UPON CONFIRMING THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED, AND IS HAPPENING ON OTHER RIDGELINES. HONDA IS TELLING CUSTOMERS THIS IS NORMAL. LOSS OF POWER TO THE AIR BAG WOULD CAUSE IT NOT TO DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE CLICKING NOISE PRIOR TO THE REPAIR. I HAVE ALSO OPENED A CASE WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE.

THE CENTER SCREEN TURNED OFF, AND THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, TRACTION CONTROL, STEERING CONTROL, AND MOST OTHERS SYSTEMS COULD NO LONGER BE CHANGED FROM WHAT APPEARS TO BE RANDOM SETTINGS. I BELIEVE THIS IS REFERRED TO AS EITHER THE EMMC OR MCU FAILURE. TESLA'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WOULD NOT TOW THE CAR AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THE SERVICE CENTER SAYS THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED BY THE 8 YEAR UNLIMITED MILE WARRANTY BECAUSE THE DRIVE TRAIN IS NOT AFFECTED HOWEVER YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE DRIVE TRAIN OR SUSPENSION SYSTEM WITHOUT THE CENTER SCREEN. TESLA WANTS $1400 TO REPLACE THE MCU WITH ONE THEY ADMIT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL.

HAD TO PULL OVER, LOOK UP THIS WARNING AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS OTHERS WHO HAD THIS SAME ISSUE DID. I TURNED VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A MINUT AND TURNED IT BACK ON. WARNING CLEARES. THE NEXT MORNING MY CAR WOULDN'T START. HAD TO SWAP CARS WITH HUSBAND SO I COULD GET TO WORK. THIS MORNING I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN AND IT WOULDN'T START. I'VE NOW BEEN WAITING 3 HRS FOR A TOW TRUCK TO GET VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 40K MILES AND IS A 2017 MODEL.
