This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before August 15, 2026
(MDH 0815XX) equipped with a 2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo W/ESS (Sales
Code EC7).

CUSTOMER
SYMPTOM:

Customer may experience a MIL-ON and/or an indication of low engine oil level.
Upon inspection the technician may find the following:
1. One or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) have set:
● P0300-00 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected.
● P0301-00 - Cylinder 1 Misfire.
● P0302-00 - Cylinder 2 Misfire.
● P0303-00 - Cylinder 3 Misfire.
● P0304-00 - Cylinder 4 Misfire.
2. Engine oil level is low.
IMPORTANT! If none of above symptoms are present, this TSB does NOT apply.

CAUSE:

Cover Cylinder Head Umbrella valve seal missing

This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Service Update (RSU) 26-147,
date of issue August 05, 2026. All applicable RSU VINs have been loaded. To verify this RSU service
action is applicable to the vehicle, use VIP or perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library.
All repairs are reimbursable within the provisions of warranty.
REPAIR SUMMARY:
This bulletin involves inspecting the engine oil level, possibly inspecting for a missing umbrella valve seal on
the underside of the cylinder head cover and, if necessary, replacing the cylinder head cover.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in DealerCONNECT/
Service Library, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs or symptom conditions, other
than the ones listed above are present, record the issues on the repair order and repair as necessary before
proceeding further with this bulletin.
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RSU VIN list, perform the repair. If any vehicle not on the VIN list
exhibits any of the symptoms listed above in the customer symptom section, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Inspect the engine oil level Fig. 1.

2. Is the oil level low Fig. 1?
● YES>>> Proceed to Step 3.
● NO>>> This bulletin has been completed. Use Inspection LOP 09-35-20-98) to close the active RSU.
Refer to service library for further misfire diagnosis.
NOTE: Vehicles exhibiting misfire DTCs alone without low oil level are not candidates for this
procedure.
3. If the engine oil level is found to be low, remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve. Refer
to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info> 25
- Emissions Control / Crankcase Ventilation / Valve, Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) / Removal and
Installation.
NOTE: Cowl extension silencer removal is NOT necessary as outlined in the service procedure.
NOTE: Be sure to follow warnings regarding location on the PCV valve where tool contact should
be avoided Fig. 2.

NOTE: Use a pair of thin nosed pliers inserted into the approved zone on the PCV valve for

4. With the PCV valve removed, insert a borescope into the PCV valve opening Fig. 4 to inspect if the
umbrella valve is missing or present Fig. 5 Fig. 6.

5. Is the umbrella valve seal missing Fig. 5?
● YES>>> Replace the cylinder head cover assembly. Refer to the detailed service procedures available
in DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info> 09 - Engine, 2.0L / Cylinder Head / Cover(s),
Cylinder Head / Removal and Installation and then proceed to Step 6.
● NO>>> This bulletin has been completed. Use Inspection LOP (09-35-20-98) to close the active RSU.
Perform further oil consumption diagnosis as required.
6. Ensure that the engine oil level is to proper specification.
7. Clear DTC's.
8. Using wiTECH, perform the “Engine Roughness" adaptive reset routine located in the PCM → Misc
Functions → Reset Memory menu.
