TITLE:

Tandem Air Dryer Banjo Bolts Update

APPLICABILITY:

All Haldex Tandem Air Dryers equipped Xcelsior buses

This bulletin introduces new improved banjo bolts for Haldex tandem air dryers. The updated banjo bolts feature
enhanced corrosion resistance and are designed to replace the current banjo bolts to help minimize corrosionrelated issues that may affect air dryer performance and reliability. This bulletin is not a retrofit campaign and
replacement is not mandatory. The improved banjo bolts are available for customers who wish to proactively
upgrade their existing components. Replacing the current banjo bolts with the improved design can help
increase long-term durability, improve system reliability, and reduce the risk of service interruptions caused by
corrosion.
For buses equipped with tandem air dryer with dual con/sep (NF PN: 639971 & 961773), use banjo bolts kit
replacement (NF PN: 6701924) to replace existing banjo bolts.
Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle to working height. Refer to the General Information Section in the service manual for
procedure if needed.
2. Clean area with shop air to release any dirt and debris in the area to prevent contaminating the area.
3. Disconnect and tag the air inlet, outlet, purge and control air lines at the tandem air dryer assembly.

4. Remove M22 Banjo Bolts/washers and replace with the new M22 Banjo Bolts/washers (Zinc Flake Coating)
from the banjo bolt kit (NF PN: 6701924). Torque M22 banjo bolts to 44 to 55 ft-lbs.
5. Remove M12 Banjo Bolts/washers and replace with the new M12 Banjo Bolts/washers (Zinc Flake Coating)
from the banjo bolt kit (NF PN: 6701924). Torque M12 banjo bolts to 130 to 150 in-lbs.
Note: Apply a small amount of silicone grease to green part of banjo bolt seals.

6. Reconnect the air inlet, outlet, purge and control air lines.

For buses equipped with tandem air dryer (NF PN: 583351 & 560693), use banjo bolts kit replacement (NF PN:
6480393) to replace existing banjo bolts.
Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle to working height. Refer to the General Information Section in the service manual for
procedure if needed.
2. Disconnect and tag the air inlet, outlet, purge and control air lines at the tandem air dryer assembly.

3. Remove M22 Banjo Bolts/washers and replace with the new M22 Banjo Bolts/washers (Zinc Flake Coating)
from the banjo bolt kit NF PN: 6480393. Torque M22 banjo bolts to 44 to 55 ft-lbs.
4. Remove M12 Banjo Bolts/washers and replace with the new M12 Banjo Bolts/washers (Zinc Flake Coating)
from the banjo bolt kit NF PN: 6480393. Torque M12 banjo bolts to 130 to 150 in-lbs.
Note: Apply a small amount of silicone grease to green part of banjo bolt seals.

5. Reconnect the air inlet, outlet, purge and control air lines.
