Maserati GranTurismo – Oil Sensor Wiring Check

DATE: June 30, 2026
Certain Maserati vehicles listed in MODISCS+ are involved in a Rapid Update involving
inspection and, if necessary, correction of the proper routing of the oil sensor wiring harness
located near the alternator.
VEHICLES INVOLVED: (M189) GranTurismo, (M190) GranCabrio MY24 – MY26
Required Action
Perform a visual inspection of the oil sensor wiring harness near the alternator.
•

If the harness is routed correctly and shows no damage, no further action is required.

•

If the harness is incorrectly routed, reposition it.

•

If the harness is damaged, repair the wiring and restore proper routing.

We remind you that all the Rapid Updates must be performed within the first workshop visit,
regardless of the Mandatory setting set in Modis, as required by Maserati policies.
Also, for vehicles in Stock Dealer / PDI, it is necessary to carry out all action operations before
delivery to the end customer, as required by the White Book and explicitly reported in the Predelivery checklist.

Inspection Procedure
1.

Always check ModisCS+ to see if the vehicle is involved in this action and if it has not been previously
performed.
2. Before performing any operation, disconnect the battery following the workshop manual procedure:
a. 8.20.001 - BATTERY - Power supply Connecting/disconnecting
3. Open the front hood and locate the alternator. Note: An endoscope is required for this inspection.
4. Insert the endoscope probe behind the alternator to identify the wiring harness and its retaining clip.

Check that the wiring harness is positioned as far as possible from the alternator pulley and no
excessive slack or deformation is present that could allow contact.

Note: As a reference, locate the bracket screw. The cable must be routed above the screw, without bends.

NOT OK

If the cable does not present any abnormalities, the car is OK and can be deliberated.

7.

Otherwise, if incorrect routing or damage is found (abrasion, breakage, exposed wires), the vehicle is
non-compliant and must be repaired.

Inspection Results
Harness Correctly Installed
If the harness is properly routed and no abnormalities are found:
• No repairs are required.
• The vehicle can be released.
Harness Incorrectly Routed or Damaged
If the harness is routed incorrectly or any of the following conditions are found:
• Abrasion
• Broken wiring
• Exposed conductors
The vehicle is non-compliant and corrective action is required. Follow the repair instructions on page 3.

Repair Procedure
1) Harness Intact but Out of Position
harness is out of position but shows no signs of abrasion or damage:
a. Leave the endoscope in place for visibility.
b. Reach the harness beneath the retaining clip.
c. Apply a slight pull to the harness.
d. Slide the harness into the clip to remove excess slack.
e. Verify the harness is routed above the bracket screw.
Once the harness is correctly positioned, the procedure is complete and the vehicle can be
released.

2) Harness Damaged
If the harness shows sleeve damage, abrasion, or exposed copper wiring:
a. Remove the alternator following Workshop Manual procedure:
8.20.002 – ALTERNATOR – Detach/Reattach or Replace
b. Remove the protective corrugated cover only in the damaged area.
c. Inspect each individual wire for damage.

2.1) Wiring Repair
If any wire is damaged:
a. Repair the affected wiring following Workshop Manual procedure:
0.30.005 – CABLE AND CONNECTOR REPAIR – Warnings
b. After repairs are completed:
1. Cover damaged corrugated protection with fabric anti-abrasion tape.
2. Apply a minimum of three wraps of tape.
3. Ensure all tape edges are completely secured.
4. Use non-fabric tape as needed to secure loose edges.

Approved Reference Tapes
Examples of acceptable fabric anti-abrasion tape include:
• Tesa® 51026
• Tesa® 4657 PV0
• Coroplast 137XRT

3) No Wire Damage Found
If the protective sleeve is damaged but the individual wires are not:
1. Restore the protective covering on the harness.
2. Reposition the harness correctly in the retaining clip.
Reassembly

3. Reinstall all removed components in the reverse order of removal.
4. The procedure is then complete and the vehicle can be released.
