Description of the modification: This bulletin aims to improve Allison shift selector monitor
working condition by adding Zener diode to electrical wiring connection of the monitor. After the
ignition was turned off, the shift selector monitor remained on for about 2 minutes. With this
modification, the shift selector monitor will also turn off when the ignition is turned off.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mechanical Requested Dress Code
WARNING:
➢ Dress properly to avoid personal injury and damage to the
vehicle
Always wear protective clothing
Do not wear any worn or loose-fitting clothing
Remove jewelry before starting to work
In case of long hair, use hairnet

2. Protect Seats when Mechanic Starts Working

✓ Seats, trimming, upholstery stuff and carpeting should be
protected with appropriate coverings.

3. Welding on the Chassis
a. Always disconnect the batteries (starting with the negative lead).
b. Disconnect the connectors of electrical and electronic equipment (electronic control
units, sensors and actuators) if they are less than 2 meters away from the chassis
part to be welded or the earth terminal of the welding equipment.
c. The earth terminal should never be attached to vehicle components such as engine,
axles and springs. Arcing on these parts is not permitted, because of the risk of
damage to bearings, springs, etc.
d. The earth terminal must make good contact and be placed as close as possible to
the part to be welded.
e. Plastic pipes, rubber parts and parabolic springs should be well protected against
welding spatter and temperatures higher than 70°.
f. The contact switch must not be in the accessory or contact position. The contact key
should be removed.
g. Reconnect in reversed order of disconnecting. Ensure that a good earth connection
is made between chassis, engine and cab.

APPLICATION STEPS
HARDWARE (INSTALLATION) APPLICATION
Adding Zener Diode to the KL15 Connection of the Shift Selector Monitor:
Before starting the hardware application, disconnect the battery from the vehicle's power supply by
turning the accumulator circuit breaker off. You can turn the accumulator circuit breaker on again
after modification process is complete.

SERVICE BULLETIN
1. In the area where the relay panel transition sockets are located, find socket labeled PTRNS.
2. The cable (05A009-163-7) connected to pin G of socket P-TRNS will be cut 10 cm from the
point of connection.

3. Insert terminal numbered 9402-81Y into the cable remaining on the P-TRNS socket side of
the cut cable.
4. Connect the terminated cable to pin 1 of the waterproof male connector numbered 9460549.
5. Insert terminal numbered 9402-81Y into the other end of the cut cable.
6. Connect the terminated cable to pin 2 of the waterproof male connector numbered 9460549.

7. A zener diode (9431-07Y) female socket will be inserted into male socket numbered 9460549. (The direction of the zener diode is indicated in the image below.)
Note: The metal diode leads must be insulated so that they do not come into contact with
any point on the outer casing.
