Tourrider USA - Fuel tank could lose leak-tightness
COMPLAINT
At high mileages (≥ 200,000 km/120,000 miles), cracks could develop in the area of the weld seams on
the stainless-steel fuel tanks.
CAUSE
At high mileages, the weld seams in the fuel tank are no longer able to withstand the prevailing loads
while the vehicle is in motion.
REMEDY
Replace the fuel tanks with plastic versions as per the attached instructions.
MEASURE TYPE
The scope of work is performed as part of a customer service measure (KDM).
INFORMATION
The required parts are listed in the attached Excel file.
Increased tool wear can also be invoiced.
As fuel needs to be drained so that the fuel tanks can be exchanged, the vehicles should be brought
into the workshop with as little fuel in the tanks as possible.
DEFECT PART HANDLING
PDI-Center Jacksonville: Take removed parts to quarantine storage.
All other workshops: Scrap removed parts.
