SERVICE:
Follow the steps below to test the HLCM cooling system.
1. With a driver in the driver’s seat, activate the rear window defroster, all seat heating, and the
steering wheel heat.
2. Run the diagnostic sequence for HLCM temperature monitoring. See page 2 of the attachment
TJ_37478_1.pdf.
3. Click the button “Live values” and observe the temperatures. See page 3 of the attachment
TJ_37478_1.pdf.
Cars with working HLCM cooling
3.1. The HLCM cooling plate temperature and the HV battery coolant inlet temperature are about
the same. See page 3.1 of the attachment TJ_37478_1.pdf.
No further action required. The HLCM cooling system is not blocked. Continue the fault
tracing according to VIDA.
Cars with HLCM cooling problems
3.2. The HLCM cooling plate temperature is increasing significantly faster compared to the HV
battery coolant inlet temperature. See page 3.2 of the attachment TJ_37478_1.pdf.
Actions
4. Check the function of the HV battery coolant pump by monitoring the requested speed vs the
actual speed. The two speeds shall be the same. See page 4 of the attachment TJ_37478_1.pdf.
5. If the pump is working properly, the HLCM cooling problems are likely caused by blocked
coolant flow inside the high-voltage battery. The battery will need to be exchanged.
Note: Please contact Retailer Technical Support via a TIE Prior Approval Vehicle Report
to obtain technical prior approval for exchanging the battery. See TJ 37809 for more
information.

Please note that fault tracing is not eligible for separate reimbursement under this TJ. Any fault
