IMPORTANT EXTENDED WARRANTY INFORMATION
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has extended the warranty for the accelerator pedal
wiring harness and connectors from the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles to 10 years/120,000
miles for certain Model Year (“MY”) 2016-2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class and GLC-Class vehicles (213, 238, and 253 platforms).
This extended warranty is applicable to the following vehicles:

This warranty extension applies to the electrical wiring and plug connection on the accelerator pedal, as it may not meet current
production specifications. The extended warranty will be indicated in VMI under “Service Packages”.
Which Parts are Covered:
The extended warranty covers the accelerator pedal wiring and connectors under damage code 5920274. Refer to the attached
Work Instructions for further parts information.
Repair Instructions:
Refer to LI54.18-P-062956 or LI54.18-P-067550, based on the applicable model.
Owner Notification:
Customer letters will be mailed on or before the week of August 5th, 2022. Based on the available inventory of parts at the PDCs
for this extended warranty, and the potential repair time involved, please ensure to manage the customer’s expectation regarding
how long the repair will take, which may depend on which components are determined to need replacing.
Conditions:
Any repairs under this warranty extension must be performed by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. This warranty
extension does not cover any other components related to the accelerator pedal or otherwise extend any other warranty
coverage on the vehicle. Standard warranty terms and exclusions apply to all other components. Repairs are only to be made in
accordance with the attached work instructions based on the applicable model class.

Reimbursement to Customers for Valid Repairs Performed Prior to Warranty Extension
Customers who have already paid to have any of the included components replaced may be eligible to receive reimbursement.
Requests for reimbursement may include parts, labor, fees and taxes.
Reimbursement may be limited to the amount the repair would have cost if completed by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.
The following documentation must be presented to the servicing or closest Mercedes-Benz dealership for reimbursement:
Original or clear copy of all receipts, invoices and/or repair orders that show:
• The name and address of the person who paid for the repair.
• The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the vehicle that was repaired.
• What problem occurred, what repair was done, when it was done and who repaired it.
• Only Mercedes-Benz replacement parts were used for the repair.
• The total cost of the repair expense that is being claimed.
• Proof of payment of repair (copy of front and back of cancelled check, or copy of credit card receipt).
• Reimbursement will be paid by a check from an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.

Accelerator Pedal Wiring Harness

Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz, has determined that on
certain Model Year (“MY”) 2016-2019 E-Class (213, 238 platform) and GLC-Class (253 platform)
vehicles, the electrical wiring and plug connection on the accelerator pedal may not meet current
production specifications.

Prior to performing this Campaign:
 VMI must always be checked before performing campaigns to verify that the campaign is
required on a specific vehicle. Always check for any other open campaigns, and perform
accordingly.
 Please review the entire Work Instruction and follow the repair procedure exactly as
described.

This bulletin has been created and maintained in accordance with MBUSA-SLP S423QH001, Document and Data
Control, and MBUSA-SLP S424HH001, Control of Quality Record

Work Procedure

If all the test steps stored in XENTRY Diagnosis have been performed and no component faults were found, the
following work must be carried out.

1. Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).
2. Unscrew nuts (1), remove accelerator pedal (2) and place to one side.

Note: Nuts torque 8Nm.
3. Disconnect electrical connector (3).
4. Model 213 and 238: Replace the connector wire to the accelerator pedal sensor (B37) using the wiring

harness repair kit and cable connector (see parts table).
Note:
Information on alternative to repair wiring harness:
If there should be any supply bottlenecks with regard to the repair wiring harness, then the contact sockets
on the accelerator pedal sensor can be replaced as an alternative.

Model 253: Replace the female contacts at the connector wire of the accelerator pedal sensor (B37).
These could be female contacts of the contact family MLK 1.2, which must be replaced by female contacts
of the contact family MCP 1.2 (see parts table). The coupling housing is suitable for both families of female
contacts and can be reused.
Note:
Please ensure that the twisted wires are untwisted as little as possible.
Please do not replace any other components (e.g. accelerator pedal sensor).
5. Install in the reverse order.
