Customer states:

The driver assist systems are unavailable, or one of the following

messages is displayed on the instrument cluster: im

+ Audi adaptive light: system fault (Figure 1). Audi adaptive light:

* Audi pre sense: system fault System fault!

+ Adaptive cruise assist: restricted

Workshop findings:
The following DTC is intermittently stored in the control module for driver assistance systems, J1121 (diagnostic
address 00A5):

+ DTC C12B3FA: (front camera for driver assist systems - communication fault) with symptom code 221189.
Technical Background
DTC “C12B3FA: Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera — communication error (symptom number 221189)” may
appear intermittently in certain circumstances. External influences (e.g. electromagnetic compatibility) can cause
this complaint.
Production Solution
Robustness measure from SW0295 onwards / implemented in production
Service
Check the software version of the driver assist systems control unit -J1121- (diagnostic address 00A5).
Software version below SW0295:
Please follow TSB 2063497, 90 Driver assist systems with various malfunctions (aLDW performance, ACC inop
when towing etc.) B200FF9 B200FF3 C123FB.
For software version SW0295 and above, the specified TSB is not visible and no further measures are
necessary/available.
Software version SW0295 and above:
No further measures are necessary/available. The issue will be resolved after a bus sleep cycle and restart of the
driver assist systems control unit -J1121- (O0A5).
If parts are changed or replaced under warranty without good reason, the costs will be charged back.

The replacement of the front camera for the assistance systems R242 does not solve this issue, even if

suggested by the Guided Fault Finding.
