Summary
INFORMATION BULLETIN - SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMPLAIN OF ENGINE OVERHEATING, VIBRATION AND A CHECK ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL). DEALERS MAY FIND THAT THE ELECTRO-VISCOUS FAN CLUTCH HAS FAILED, THE WIRING HAS BROKEN NEAR THE FAN CONNECTOR FROM VIBRATION, OR THE FAN MAY APPEAR TO BE WOBBLY AND/OR OUT OF ROUND. THESE CONDITIONS MAY BE PRESENT IF THE FAN CLUTCH ADAPTER WAS INSTALLED OFF-CENTER. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE CONDITIONS ARE FOUND OR THE FAN CLUTCH IS REPLACED, ISUZU
RECOMMENDS UPDATING THE FAN CLUTCH ADAPTER AT THE SAME TIME. THE NEW ADAPTER HAS BEEN IMPROVED SO THAT IT IS ALWAYS CENTERED ON THE CRANK PULLEY. FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE INFORMATION FOR REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS. THE ADAPTER SHOULD ONLY NEED TO BE UPDATED ONE TIME.

This bulletin supersedes IB26-J-001. This bulletin is being updated to revise
content. Please discard previous bulletin IB26-J-001.
INFORMATION
Some customers may complain of engine overheating, vibration and a check engine
malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Dealers may find that the electro-viscous fan clutch has
failed, the wiring has broken near the fan connector from vibration, or the fan may appear
to be wobbly and/or out of round. These conditions may be present if the fan clutch
adapter was installed off-center.
If any of the above conditions are found or the fan clutch is replaced, Isuzu recommends
updating the fan clutch adapter at the same time. The new adapter has been improved
so that it is always centered on the crank pulley. Follow the appropriate service
information for replacement instructions. The adapter should only need to be updated one
time.
NOTE: When replacing a fan or fan clutch, check service records, including
warranty, or query the customer, to determine if the updated fan clutch adapter has
already been installed.
IMPORTANT: The crank pulley/adapter mounting surface will likely need to have
paint removed from the crank pulley before installing the new adapter to ensure
the new adapter is seated and centered correctly.
