Campaign Bulletin: This campaign bulletin addresses a non-safety-related condition and provides recommended technical
diagnosis and repair procedures. Apply this procedure to the applicable vehicles.

Condition
On some vehicles, the LH and/or RH front seat backrest blower(s) may emit a loud grinding noise in the shoulder area
of the backrest when front seat cooling is enabled.

Correction
Inspect the vehicle for symptoms related to the condition. If symptoms are present, replace the LH and/or RH front
seat backrest blower(s).

Procedure
1. Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
2. Enable Service Mode (refer to Service Manual procedure).
3. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Seats to display the seat heating/ventilation controls
(Figures 1 and 2).

4. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch the LH front seat heating/ventilation controls icon > Cool, and then touch the
seat heating/ventilation controls icon until x3 blue wavy lines are illuminated, indicating maximum seatback fan
blower speed (Figure 3).

5. Wait at least 3 seconds for the LH front seat backrest blower fan to reach maximum speed.

6. Note whether a loud grinding noise is audible in the shoulder area of the LH front seat backrest, and then repeat
steps 4–6 on the RH front seat backrest blower.
NOTE: Operational seat backrest blower fan noise (i.e., the sound of the fan spinning) is acceptable.
7. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch the LH front seat heating/ventilation controls icon until x3 blue wavy lines
illuminate white, indicating the seatback fan blower is off (Figure 3).
8. Determine the next step(s) based on results noted earlier in this procedure:
•

If no repairs are necessary, close out this document using correction code S012613001.

•

Replace one front seat backrest blower (refer to Service Manual procedure 1301021002). Use correction
code S022613001.

•

Replace both front seat backrest blowers (refer to Service Manual procedure 1301021002). Use
correction code S032613001.
