APPLIES TO:

This service bulletin applies to certain model year 2023-2025 Gladiator
and Metro Star model emergency response chassis cabs built between
April 2024 and August 2025.

CONDITION:

Certain trucks may be equipped with a LCP80 Kussmaul charger that may
fail to initiate the charging operation.

CORRECTION:

Identify if Kussmaul charger serial number is within the affected date
range and then replace charge if it is in the affected range.

LABOR ALLOCATION:

1 hour

PARTS NEEDED:

Upon inspection in Step 1, if it is determined that the Kussmaul charger
serial number matches one of the serial numbers listed in Table 2.1
contact Andrea Robinson ([email protected]) for
instructions on the charger remedy.

Step By Step Instructions
Inspection
1) Examine the Kussmaul LCP 80 data label serial number and identify if serial number is
in the date range that requires replacement.
a. If serial number is not one of the serial numbers in Table 2.1 below, no further
action is required.
b. If serial number is one of the serial numbers in Table 2.1 below, then proceed to
the replacement procedure beginning in step 2.

Replacement
2) Locate the 100 amp resettable circuit breaker in the driver’s side battery box and press
the release button to disconnect the 12 volt power circuit from the Kussmaul charger.
(See Figure 3.1)

3) Ensure the shore power is disconnected from the truck before proceeding with removal
of the Kussmaul charger.
4) Locate Kussmaul charger, typically mounted under the driver’s rear facing seat. (See
Figure 4.1)

5) Make a note or take a photo of the wiring before disconnecting the wires from the
Kussmaul charger.
6) Remove fasteners that secure the Kussmaul charger to the floor.

7) Remove the Kussmaul charger.
8) Contact Andrea Robinson ([email protected]) for instructions on the
charger remedy.
9) Reinstall new Kussmaul charger and fasteners.
10) Referring to the notes/photo taken earlier and Figure 5.1 below, reconnect the wires to
the Kussmaul charger.

11) Re-engage resettable circuit breaker that was previously disengaged in step 2 to finalize
the replacement.
