FRONT VIEW CAMERA WARNING AND CALIBRATION
(DTC C272246)

SUBJECT:

Description: Some 2020MY and newer vehicles equipped with a front view camera may illuminate
certain warning lights and trigger DTC C272246 fault code for the front camera.
In the following cases, the front camera auto-calibration range may be exceeded while driving:
• If the front camera is not properly installed and is completely or partially detached.
• In case of excessive changes affecting the vehicle's balance (e.g., loading excessively heavy
cargo in a specific location of the vehicle, or significant under-inflation of the tires).
• Specific road conditions affecting the vehicle's balance (e.g., excessive road crown)
This TSB provides instructions on how to service the vehicle when the front camera related warning
light(s) are triggered due to system out of calibration (DTC_C272246).
C272246 – System Out of Calibration
Possible Warning lights due to the front camera exceeding its calibration tolerance:

Applicable Vehicles (Certain): 2020MY or later models equipped with a front-view camera

Service Procedure:

DIGITAL DOCUMENTATION
This TSB includes repair justification in the form of automatically uploaded DTC(s) via GDS eReport at the time of diagnosis. To ensure adherence to the Digital Documentation Policy
before claim submission, DTC history can be reviewed via the e-Report function within the
GDS.

Front Camera Calibration

1A.

Connect GDS to the vehicle and check for
DTC C272246:
• If the DTC is ACTIVE, then proceed to
replace the front view camera. Refer to
the shop manual for the front view
camera replacement procedure.
•

1B.

If the DTC is in History, then NO action
is required.

If DTC C272246 is triggered, do NOT perform
the front camera calibration using the target.
• If the front camera target calibration is
performed, it will cause another DTC
C2721.
•

DTC C2721 – System Calibration
Required LDWS (Lane Departure
Warning System).

Information

If DTC C2721 is triggered, turn the
ignition OFF/ON and then perform the
driving calibration with the usage of the
GDS.
Select “FR/CMR – Front View Camera”,
“Front Camera Driving Calibration
(SPC)”, then follow the instructions in the
GDS to perform the driving calibration.

Confirm and if necessary, address the concern
for the possibility of the following conditions:
• Remove and re-install the front camera
in case it was seated improperly.
• Check all tires pressure, ensuring they
are set to specification.
• Ensure there is no excessive load on
one side of the vehicle.
• Ensure the vehicle is not leaning too
much in the front end or rear end due to
excessive load.

3.

Test drive the vehicles under the following
conditions:
• Time: 5 minutes
• Speed: Over 18.6 MPH (30 KPH)
• Road: Straight with minimal curves (A)

Calibration may fail when conducted on a
road with too much surface damage (B)
or too many curves (C).

Information

If you attempt to perform front camera
calibration while DTC C2722 is ACTIVE,
it will cause DTC C272146 (System
Calibration Required).
If DTC C272146 occurs, turn the ignition
off and on, then perform driving
calibration with GDS.

4.

Verify the front camera operates normally.

5.

The service procedure is now complete.
