Condition
Some customers may comment of a “Service Headlamp” message.
Cause
GM Engineering is investigating.
Correction
Perform the following diagnostic steps:
If the DTCs are current:
a. Follow SI diagnostics as required.
If the DTC’s are history:
a. Clear history DTCs.
b. Verify that the headlights and auto level function of the headlamp is functioning when the vehicle is started. Do
this by covering the ambient light sensor on the dash and visually confirming the vertical (up/down) movement of the
headlamp beam pattern and/or interior lenses.
c. Verify that the “service headlamp” message does not appear and no DTCs are set.
d. If the headlights are operating properly with no messages or DTCs then return the vehicle to the customer, if not
then follow normal SI diagnostics as necessary.
GM Engineering is investigating the source of this message/DTCs and in the meantime please continue to drive your
vehicle. This PI will be updated or replaced with TSB once a determination has been made.
