Pierce
apparatus equipped with Command Zone multiplexing uses the cab power distribution area for determining the vehicle system voltage. However, because of voltage drop between the batteries and the cab distribution area, this is not a true representation of actual system voltage. To improve the accuracy of the Command Zone voltage gauge reading, a programming update may be performed that will use a Battery box module to determine system voltage, rather than a cab mounted module.

Command Zone Voltage Sense Software Update
Subject:
Pierce apparatus equipped with Command Zone multiplexing uses the cab power distribution area for determining
the vehicle system voltage. However, because of voltage drop between the batteries and the cab distribution
area, this is not a true representation of actual system voltage.
To improve the accuracy of the Command Zone voltage gauge reading, a programming update may be performed
that will use a Battery box module to determine system voltage, rather than a cab mounted module.
Procedure:
1. Submit a technical incident requesting that the “Command Zone Voltage Sense be Relocated to a Battery Box
Module.
2. Once the updated Command Zone file is received, it will need to be installed with CZ Flasher or the
PierceCZ.com web app (depending on the software version).
The software update will be provided to the dealer at no cost regardless of vehicle age and the installation will be
covered under the Pierce Command Zone 5-year warranty.
